Need Guidance for getting SDE role after 2 yrs gap

Hey everyone,I am 2021 CSE graduate.I was preparing for competitive exam but I couldn't get desired rank.Now I want to start working as SDE.I have very in depth knowledge of fundamental computer subjects.I have recently started learning DSA & js(for web development). How can I get my first job?If anyone has gone through same situation please share your experience.

Hi everyone, I am a Masters student from Tier1 College(Please do not think I'm bragging about the clg I'm in but to give better idea about myself) will be completing by May 2024 previously graduated from a Tier 3 college in 2021 and before doing masters I had worked in DRDO for about couple of months as JRF (So I'm a fresher). Please go through my resume and suggest me about getting a Job in SDE. I understand there will be very less SDE jobs in future and I tried preparing for AI/ML roles but I really do not enjoy AI but still having some knowledge in AI domain (but not enough to work in AI roles) and I have very less hands on experience in doing AI projects but I have good experience in software development and want to leave the AI boat and whatever happens work more on Software development (as I feel it is not possible to travel in both the boats). I really applied quite a lot in linkedin, wellfound and other job boards but did not get any response from them. Kindly please suggest me what's wrong with my resume or what should I focus on in order to get a Job. Hi folks, I recently got laid off from a startup where 50% of the engineering team was let go. I was working as an SDE and during a restructuring, my role was changed to SDE-2 without any increase in pay or responsibilities. I have a total of 2.5 years of experience. In my first company (where I worked for a year), there weren't many projects, so I didn't have the opportunity to learn or code much. However, in my second company, I primarily worked on the backend using Go, Django, Kafka, MongoDB, & PostgreSQL. I realize that although I gained exposure in my second job, I didn't delve deeply into the technologies. I mainly focused on completing business tasks quickly, learning new things just to finish the task at hand, without solidifying my understanding afterward. My experience seems suitable for an SDE-2 role, but I'm unsure if I can perform the role with complete honesty and may struggle. Some friends in similar situations reassure me that this struggle is common in SDE-2 roles. However, I feel I might be better off starting again as an SDE-1, focusing on my weak areas, and aiming for a promotion later. There are very few SDE-1 job openings currently. I am actively interviewing for SDE-2, and not able to clear system design interviews. Tbh, I feel very humiliated as when I am not able to answer their questions it feels like I am wasting their time or they would be thinking: Oh this guy has been working for so long and doesn't even know anything. Now I get it why people think Indian Software engineers are not that good in comparison to other countries' devs: the reason is people like me. This realization burdens me with guilt, occupying my thoughts constantly. However, I am confident that I can crack SDE-1 easily. I have good DSA & good enough LLD, &HLD skills for SDE1. I am looking for companies who can match my prev Salary: 22 L, 2 Bonus. Can u help how to navigate this career situation effectively without increasing my guilt or feeling constantly humiliated?

Hey everyone, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Have any of you successfully aced an interview solely through tutorials, YouTube, or side projects without hands-on work experience? I am a SDET exploring a transition to SDE role, internally tried within my company ,not happening due to various reasons, hence trying to switch over. In order to achieve that, I've worked on full-stack sidd projects, practiced DSA, and made a good "tailored" CV that gets me interview calls. But I am currently facing mixed experiences in interviews. I am able to answer a few but struggle with some questions and seek advice on how to improve. Any suggestions for this career switch are greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton

Hey everyone , I am currently working in a consulting company with most work being in sql in snowflake and databricks and python. I wanna switch to sde or data engineer role. Does anyone have experience how can I switch. It seems like analyst in profile is not good. I am already trying to do DSA again. Oh yeah 1 year exp 🙃

I recently got placed in a good product based company and was assigned in Data Engineering team 1-2 weeks ago as an intern. I always wanted to be a Software Development Engineer and I really like to develop applications, websites etc and I also really enjoy it. I even purchased an expensive system design book to learn and implement how they build scalable apps etc because I find it very interesting. I never persued the data domain because I don't like stats and all the maths. Avoided AI/ML in college. Sure, I can work and learn about it in my free time, but I don't prefer it as a job right now. I couldn't develop my interest in data engineering after researching about it online for hours. Yes, the stack is cool and different, they build pipelines and all but it looks boring to me. I also read few comments saying that freshers are rarely hired for this role and one should work as an sde for few years before switching to this domain, and also they are paid ≤ SDEs depending on the company. What should I do now? Please guide me seniors🙏 Am I stuck in this forever or can I switch to SDE anytime I want? I am open to trying this role but then I am also scared that it'd may be too late or too hard to switch to SDE by then..? P.s. This is my first job, never worked in a company before so I don't know how things work.
