As per my understanding, Including you in the designing phase depends upon how you organization works. Maybe you are working in a big team where it is not feasible to include everyone in every stage of development.  
  
 Sooner or later, with experience you will definitely gain a better understanding of all such things.  
  
 Though I don't have a lot of work experience but I personally believe in the "f*** around and find out" mindset. Bug your seniors while developing things as to why we are using this and not that.  
  
 However do keep in my mind to balance your curiosity with your work output.

To include juniors like me in project architecture level discussions, like if a new project is to be developed, what technology are going to be used, how you came to a particular solution, why only this solution is appropriate why not the other.

I want to involve juniors like me during this discussion and not after everything is finalized.

So they are saying we are not including some project managers, why should we include you. This will only cost you your time, sare din meeting kroge to kaam kb kroge...

I just want to gain that kind of thinking, mindset, and knowledge while developing a project or solutions

So During our scum calls with client my manager  gives update for whole team himself and doesnt let us update on the task which we have worked on ourself . Mf just grabs all the glory  in pursuit for good feedback from client side   meanwhile he does nothing technical  and during internal meeting he says you guys should speak more with client  and ALSO he ask for everyone's update on task before scrum and then pokes why is it not done even on task whose estimated completion  date/time is far away. 

So annoying and frustating .

Just a rant from your average software dev .

How do you guys deal with toxic people in tech, especially when they are your seniors or you work with them everyday?
We are a small team and the senior I have is an extremely shit person. We decide something while design discussions, and product discussion but he changes his mind and asks to completely revamp the solution after it's implemented. Extremely close-minded to new or different ideas or different ways of doing things. Also frequently insults people on the call.

I know one solution is to leave the company but that can't always be the case and when the team is small, sometimes these people become unavoidable. So looking for ideas on how other people deal with toxic peers/seniors in their workplace.

I am fed up with people who try to steal other people’s credit. Be it your manager, your colleague or anyone how do you avoid them from taking your credit for the work you have done. Worst part is seeing them try hard to showcase it as their own. What do you all suggest for such situations?

I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. 

one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. 

Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. 

I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here.

Need help !! Toxicity at workplace

My teammate is very annoying😡
Whenever he is stuck with a problem, he just spends a very little time on it, and if he is not able to find a solution he gets me on the call and tries to get it solved through me and I kind of baby spoon him for the solution. This is a repeated practice and I am sick of it.
Sometimes I thought to confront him but then I kind of push myself back thinking how he might feel about it.

Please give me genuine suggestions on what should I do? Should I discuss this with my manager/lead? Or something else

PS: He is elder than me but we are on same designation.

This thing has been bugging me so much that I setup a meeting with my manager but here’s the thing- I have no idea how to talk about this to my manager. I obviously think it’s unfair given how much more work I am doing. 
Can experienced people here please guide me on how to approach this meeting?

Junior coworker getting paid more than me.

I’ve always been mentioned as an excellent performer by my manager since I joined the project. I received good feedback from my manager and team lead as well. Recently I’ve been shifted to a new team and the team mates don’t cooperate at all. As I’m new to the work that I’ve been doing in this team, sometimes I ask for guidance from my team mates or team lead. The team lead hardly responds to my texts. In most of the cases I’ve been learning and solving my problems by myself as I don’t receive any response neither from my team lead nor the other team mate. There was a major issue triggering recently, I was able to find the cause of the problem but I didn’t have much idea on how to solve it properly…regarding which I was constantly informing and asking for the solution to my team lead and my team mate. But neither of them responded and the issue got escalated and my team lead complaint to the manager while being questioned that me and the other team mate weren’t checking on the issue on a everyday basis. The same manager who had always been praising for the quality of my work and performance, questioned me rudely on the issue today that I wasn’t checking on the issue even after being assigned and didn’t let me speak my opinion on it. 

Nothing… just sharing here out of frustration as I can’t do anything rather than just listening to the seniors. Coz they’re after all “Seniors”/“Managers” and as a fresher we can’t really do anything about it rather than just listening and obeying them.

Hi all senior engineer

I am also an engineer with just 2 years of experience. Recently joined startup and getting so damn tight deadline. The project I'm working on is relatively small but there are so many states update and too frequently.
They don't have any low level design or high level design or any data pipeline or message broker service. Just figma arts which I'm suppose to implement but the state functionality is complex and not able to deliver within time.

What should I do?

Please advise me if you are seeing this doesn't matter good or bad.

I'm good at all the things (I'll say better but I lost my confidence after the incident ) I'm doing but not able to get all functionality done on time. From data science team all API's ready. So please suggest me some idea with your experience.

So since past few days, I'm getting feeling that they are going to sack my manager and are going to promote me to his level. They have already started sharing sheets with me whose access I didn't had earlier. It's a team of 6-7 designers, and I'm senior among them. Now, if they promote me toh manage this team, how should I ask for hike? What important things should I highlight so that I can make a good case for myself? I have had a manager who has been bullish about the timelines of a 12 month long project. And has never contributed in any capacity. When I reach out to her for help, the high level responses are: “lets go deeper”, “lets be user first and figure out”. Is this appropriate?

Wanted an opinion on how do you all tackle the assignment bit when it comes to assignments as part of hiring processes. One, how regular or normal is it at senior positions ? And two, I feel that a lot of times they just ask you to do everything that is expected of the job. Eg: Create a marketing strategy after analyzing landscape and top 3 competitors. Add graphs etc.
I always have a concern of getting most out of you. Since its at round 1 they would be getting multiple such assignments, which means by design lpt of this work will be a waste and lots of inputs freely sourced.
How do you all handle it ? Can you push back ?
P.S: Am from business/ marketing aide of things and not sure of how it works for techies/ product.

So I am leading a project but before its finalisation it should go through different stakeholders for their input. One of the SMEs has rejected the part of work I sent to them. My manager also said they are looking to make it leaner - but in reality it is only going lengthier or similar. How do I tell my boss it is almost the same and we could have saved alot of time spent on duplicate work done by the SME?? SME just want to press on their importance because I refused their “offer” of help. Honestly, that requirement was not rocket science and there was no need their for an individual one on one. I rqstd founder for hybrid work as I don't see my real-time need in the office, Founder is quite rigid on the office point and wants me to be present in office no matter what and also on some other things.
