Offer evaluation - Fresher

Received an offer from Gameskraft for SDE - 1 role in the DevOps team, 0 YoE; want to know the culture, growth, learnings and whether the ESOPs are worth it. Base - 18 L Annual Bonus - 2 L One-time Bonus - 2 L ESOPs - 10 L (vested 25% each year)

Hey folks, Got a full time offer as an APM and they offered: 1. 10 LPA Base 2. 1 lakh Retention Bonus (will be given in the first month) 3. 1 lakh ESOPS Should I accept or negotiate for more? If I negotiate, which component should I negotiate and how much? Thanks in advance.

Hi Grapeviners, I have an exp of exactly 2 years and i received an offer from a startup for analyst (level 1) at a cash component of ~ 20L (includes 10 % variable) and ESOP worth 3 L. My current company had an all fixed comp at 15 LPA ( fully remote) but the new company is WFO at Bangalore. I am also giving interviews for two other companies parallelly but my LWD of my current company was yesterday. Should I go ahead with this offer? Overall it looks decent but it's definitely not a financial improvement for me as the hike will offset the living expenses and the 30% tax bracket. Need your take on this guys. Should I wait more? The current offer I cannot hold for more than a week before it expires.

I have 6 years experience. My current base/fixed is 60 LPA. (I also got a 5 lakh bonus and 5 lakh of my ESOPs vested this year making my total vested about 30 lakh. So the total comp is 70). I'm being offered a senior engineer position in an early stage startup (as part of the founding engineer team). They haven't given an offer yet. Being early stage, the emphasis will most likely be on ESOPs. How do I evaluate this and set my expectations? (If I were to switch to a mature company, I believe the hikes usually are between 15-20%? How does this work for early stage startups?)

Hi Viners, My elder brother who used to work in strategy got laid off in July. He had a fixed pay of 35 and total CTC of 42. ( 2 lakh annual esops, 5 lakh variable). He has a pretty good runway and not worried about the finances since currently at home and no rent/ other metro city expenses. He has been working as an external consultant since December and making 3 lakh per month as fees. Yesterday he received an full time offer from a startup with Fixed pay 32, 1 lakh retention, 1 lakh performance bonus and 4 lakh annual esops at the last valuation. The startup is yet to raise series B but the role he is getting is a strategy and ops planning role along with PnL responsibility in 3-6 months. HR told him that the salary would get revised once they recieve series B but he knows that stuff is usually just lip service. Glassdoor reviews also show that the workload will be high and might have to work on public holidays as well. Would you advice to take this?

I got to know a senior leadership member at a popular startup suggested to deliberately do poor appraisal for an employee so that she resigns herself. Bad times ahead with companies forcing employees to join back offices and planning silent layoffs. PS: By "forcing" I mean not leaving employees with much of an option other than to quit.

Have more than 5 years of experience working for a consulting MNC, a SaaS startup and a medium-sized consulting company. Over the years have gotten the opportunity to work as a frontend engineer(angular, react), a fullstack engineer(java, javascript/typescript, python) and currently a data engineer(pyspark/databricks, azure, gcp). Projecting my self as a fullstack/backend engineer only. What should be my fair salary ask in series A/B/C startups & other product companies? I believe many of people in here will be in the same boat as me, so please put down your thoughts…!
