With all these EVs catching fire and Ola not being able to turn a profit, Im curious to know if it really is a solid company or just an investor-money marketing hype? I mean most of the folks I know open Ola LAST, if Uber/Rapido/Blusmart haven’t worked. Ola E is also facing a lot of flak because its EVs are seeing the highest number of incidents. They’ve also had a string of CXOs come and go.

Are Ola + Ola E good companies? Like I’m curious to know what you guys generally think, even from a job perspective.

(PS, for the sake of transparency, I’m a journalist [you can drop me any scoops/leads at backgroundsources@proton.me] but this question has nothing to do with work — i’m seriously, genuinely curious about Ola and Ola Electric and Bhavish Aggarwal. Very few Ola folks speak about the internal goings on at the company)

People in Ola, how’s this whole make tech in india thing working out?

Is this even working? Or just another marketing gimmick?

Ex Ola here. Everything this guy says is sham. Ola is a shit hole. Stay away from anything Ola sells. For data point here's one: they have an employee churn rate of 50% every year (half of the company leaves every year)

I tried Ola ebike service for commuting a short distance ~ 5km. The experience was good and the fare was also cheap(50 Rs.). 
I spoke to the driver about earnings and whether he has to give EMI for the OE bike. Then he showed me the below table - how his earnings are calculated. 

I got shocked at seeing the high earnings amount - upto 4.5K daily which amounts to 1.35 lac monthly! 
He told me that Ola ebike is for short distances only - Upto 7-8 kms. And he is able to get average 3-4 rides in 1 hour, and he also doesn't have to pay for the vehicle rent. The Charging is also free at Ola Chargers. 

I couldn't help but wonder how can Ola sustain with this much spending. If they're giving upto 1lac to every driver and charging the user very less, that's a lot of cash burn.

- The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued a show cause notice to Ola Electric. 
- The notice pertains to alleged violation of consumer rights, misleading advertisement and unfair trade practices. 
- Ola Electric has been directed to respond within 15 days. 
- This follows a public spat between Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra. 
- Ola Electric's shares dropped by 8.31% following the incident.

They want to do everything from Q-commerce to cab-hailing to Cloud to Maps and now Semiconductors. Only bad thing is, super lousy execution and no clear roadmap. The whole event felt like college level presentation, full of weasel words.
