Has anyone noticed weirdly wonky payment request notifications from Paytm? Requests come in very late. Sometimes, I get many duplicate payment requests.

It seems that their notification workers aren't idempotent leading to duplicate notifications. Also, a lot of backpressure could be building up in their brokers too leading to delayed notifications.

Can anyone at Paytm investigate and share more insights?

Situation: at a store I first paid via UPI on phonepe. Money was deducted from my bank account, but the transaction was not completed (and it is still processing) , the receiver didn't get the money.
After a few minutes I tried via Google pay. Money was deducted and transferred successfully. 

Can anyone point out why this happened. At the core is there something different in system infrastructure for the both?

Noticed a bunch of merchants and sellers offline shift to HDFC or phonepe qr machines entirely. Some have added them as backups but very few.

Seems like most users prefer one UPI payment gateway/app or the other but don't usually keep backup brands.

Paytm rep has definitely taken a hit in the market.

This sh*t app  deducted money from my account , I have recieved money from my father and they deducted more than 200-300 rupees from what I have received,  my message is showing that I have received full money what he sent , this is happening for the second time within a month , and second thing is that my transaction history doesn't show what money i have recieved in green as it used to know . Once my friend send some thousand bucks and they deducted some hundreds of rupees , i thought of it as some technical glitch but now it's happening for the second time , if there is any Paytm employee reading this then please tell me what's this any hw can I get my money back

Controversial take below:
No doubt that PayTM has been a poster-boy of Indian fintech startups. And Vijay Shekhar Sharma has been an exceptional entrepreneur: building PayTM into a homegrown brand and a multi-billion dollar public company. To that extent, PayTM does deserve a lot of respect from the entire startup community and all of us.

But in current context, they were found to be persistently non-compliant on certain regulations: regulations which are not new and which exist for the protection of consumer interest and overall trust in the ecosystem. That PayTM failed to adhere to them, is squarely on them. That is just oversight or just negligence on their part, and they are facing the consequences of their (in)action.

Why then this show of support for PayTM, who clearly is at fault here? Is it just sympathy for VSS and other PayTM employees who see a lot of their wealth dissipate overnight? Is it just teenage rebellion spirit against the "system" and believing startups are above them? Or is it just accepting that it is okay to cut corners, almost with the guilt of knowing we have erred similarly too?

I get the respect for the company and VSS, I do. But to present them as heroes who have been hard done by regulators, is a grossly misleading narrative.

Got to know today that Paytm is planning to shut down a couple of products. Accompanied by 30-40% layoffs accros teams and verticals and reducing the tech force to less than half, it feels like Vijay is done with the payment business. There is no clarity on the PA license either and VP level folks are being asked to put in papers.

Is Shreyas Srinivasan now more focused on company politics and bickering rather than focusing on product building?

His largely talks about homepage designs only (like that's the only product management he knows), comes and gives gyaan but never had been able to deliver nos (his current KPIs are all red since 2 months), blames on other teams / external factors rather than owning things up like any half decent leader.

And most funny he and his minions (Neehar etc.) create full mess and then they start taking moral high ground / highlighting that how product is messed up once they pass responsibility to some other team.

No wonders Paytm lags so much behind PhonePe and GPay. When product leaders focus more on politics than getting work done, not sure how will key metrics grow.

I like Paytm over other apps. It works as a single point for everything I need, be it UPI, CC payment, movies, events, travel, investment and what not.

Is AI to be blamed for this or their Paytm Bank Ban?
I like Paytm as an App but I wonder why it's not going well with them. Can't they save changing Management or core values? Let me know your thoughts.

What truly went wrong with Paytm.Can layoff be a only solution???

RBI is a big bully, everybody knows that. RBI has bullied the likes of HDFC, ICICI and a lot of fintech startups. All it wants is that these folks are compliant with the rules.

RBI is one of the most stringent Central banks in the world. This also ensures a lot of financial stability in the country, sometimes overdoing the regulations.

Once you fix the systems and comply with RBI, business is back to usual. This has been the trend in all the notices that have been sent across to all the different companies. Paytm should be no different.

Paytm has a book value of 205. In case the stock hits a few more lower circuits, in the words of Ashneer Grover, it'll be a "Screaming buy".

Every good opportunity comes with a lot of risk. The primary risk here is that Paytm doesn't get its act straight and RBI at the end of February imposes the actions that are mentioned in the circular.
 Next line in such a case. Well the money is lost but if they fix the necessary things within time then it's going to be a jackpot.

Catching falling knives is never easy, and it's bound to hurt you, but hey, "Risk He Toh Ishq He".

Next lower circuit is ~487rs 
The one after it is ~390rs.

I think anything under 500 is great price without the RBI impact. If it hits the circuit tomorrow, I'll start buying on Monday. If it doesn't, well, salary is already credited, so it's time for some risky investment.

Can someone please explain if Paytm QR code won't work anymore from March?
So they have to go and physically replace them or can it happen at the backend? I remember Phonepe was able to do it in one day, but that was after NPCI allowed them. Will they do it with Paytm as well?
Otherwise how will they do it for so many merchants in one month?

2. sudden demand for employees to work from the office on specific days, hinting at wanting people to quit on their own.
3. layoff happening as reported by media (and internal group on grapevine), still unclear on how deep the cut will be can be from 20% or above; numbers are speculative, lets wait and watch, many have started getting the calls from HR; shabbily handled.
