Will be starting a loop with Google, and in process with MSFT.

What level will microsoft map? L61/L62? And any ballpark estimate of comp in the past six months. Can’t rely on previous data. Also would Google L4 be able to beat msft comp? I am not keen on pursuing L4 at Google and L5 seems a stretch.

I am planning to join Microsoft India next month as a SWE 2 (L61/L62) and I am pretty excited about it. I have aspirations and dreams to moving to US (I know its not that amazing and India is great but I wanna go due to family).
I know if you are lucky and spend enough time in a company, such as Amazon, you may get that chance. I used to work at Amazon IN but I was laid off cause JWO.

Can someone working at Microsoft India, make this move in lets say 2-3 years or more if they perform well, keep their manager informed about these plans and lurk for opportunities.

I very well know that the answer may be a big NO but I thought to just ask for opinions.

I got a call from google for L7 role (BLR) which is staff role in India afaik. HR mentioned Payrange: 2-3Cr

I get mixed reviews from people so asking again for BLR folks: 

1. Amount of focus on coding round vs system design?
2. Amount of leet code preparation?
3. In the interview Is the focus more on leadership or knowing deeper tech nuances? 
4. What’s the payrange I can get?
5. Is google L7 equivalent of amazon L6? Levels.fyi has split so not exactly sure. 

I am looking for responses from people who have actually gone through similar experiences rather than “I heard from my sources”.

I have worked at Microsoft for a year at L59, got the job through campus selection. 
Despite of a lot of hard work, my manager said there is not much hope to promote me to L60 even after 6 more months.
I landed an offer in Google, with 25 percent increase in inhand salary and almost same valued stock component as in my current CTC.
Despite of the salary change being so good, I’ve had people telling me that this is not a good time to switch to Google because:
1. The laying off secenario at Google 
2. The work life balance has become terrible there in the past year
3. There is a lot of office politics there, so bad working environment in general 
4. Microsoft Stocks have a lot more potential than Google stocks

Please share your opinions on Google vs Microsoft.

Need help in deciding how can I negotiate on the numbers.
Fixed- 32LPA
Stocks- 65000 usd over 4 years (13L for first year)
Joining- 3L
Relocation- 3L

Current TC- 40LPA fixed, 12lpa esops
(Fantasy sports company)

Other Offer in hand from a startup (sass b2b)
Fixed- 43.5LPA
Variable- 4.5LPA
Esops- 1Cr over 4 years

Received an offer from Microsoft

Offer : E4 175k pounds
Current: L4 56 Lakhs
YoE: 1 year 7 months

Here's what I have considered:

- Living in London is going to be costly, on an avg I'll be saving 1.2x of India.
- Meta London created a bad reputation for itself when last year it laid off people from India just 2 days after joining
- it's not worth it going from L4 to E4, I probably should switch only when getting a higher level or a big big pay bump (this is probably not a big pay bump considering the cost of living)
- I am not very good at making friends, and I have quite some friends here now... I don't just want to leave everything and be alone in a new city so far away from home.

- the only pro point I see is that..  it is London.

Do you think I should reconsider my decision?

I have decided to reject Meta London offer

A family member of mine is attending an interview with Google Bangalore for the role of Product Support Manager. Not sure what level the role is but it is a mid-senior role and she has 10 years of experience. 

The thing is, the recruiter never asked her current salary and expectations during the screening. He just went ahead and scheduled the first round. So, my cousin is wondering if after she goes through all rounds, then they might hear her TC and reject her in the end (as her current TC is very high). 

My question, will Google India provide a base higher than what she is already getting? And how much can she ask for?

Her current TC: 40 LPA (base)
Startup ESOPs: worth 45 lakhs
She works as a Manager here.

If she clears all rounds, will google provide her a salary higher than this current base? Or is she just wasting her time since the recruiter won't go higher than 40lpa?

After clearing all rounds, she was hoping to ask for
Base: 50 LPA
RSUs: $50,000
