Sad reality of corporate - What can be done to change it?
I've seen this only a couple of times as a hiring manager.
It was a bloody dogfight with the TA teams and Business Finance to get approvals to come somewhere near the market parity comp for experience.
The usual culprit is folks who don't speak up and demand that they be paid for the value they are adding ti the org. Mostly due to a severe inferiority complex and lack of confidence to ask!

Yes. And in the insecurity of the job. For a long time, having frank conversations with my managers regarding feedback, expectations, promotions & raises, I have felt it quite awkward. It feels easy to leave a good job, or stay discontent rather than have that uncomfortable conversation fearing the outcome of it.
Admittedly it can be daunting. But what's the worst that can happen - they'll say No.

A software engineer with 14 YoE making 14LPA is most likely heavily underpaid (assuming most/all of the 14 years of experience are engineering related).

Yea. He knows his worth but not able to get it
He/she should have made multiple switches before. My guess is he/she didn’t make the required job switches. It would be really difficult for that person to actually jump 4x of their salary(unless it’s a niche skill set which he/she maybe having).

Agreed, but switches are not easy to come.
My personal experience also has been similar. Really respect people who hold multiple offers at a point
Agreed but I think 14 years is a pretty long stretch(if the person didn’t make a switch till date).

There are many more people like this. I know 3 such people for sure. See, everyone doesn't have the same trajectory, path or career choices or opportunities.. there can be many factors at play. Had it been the same for everyone then there would have been no choices for employers to make in the market. You have all type of disparity in the market, exploration etc etc.
Life is not the same for everyone.
It’s easy, people just need to realize that there in no “Loyalty” in Corporate Dictionary.
You’re just labor, (Dahedi) it’s just shinier office and soft etiquette.
Damn! I hope this is an outlier and not a norm. If you started out at ₹3.2lpa and got a 11% anual average hike, you’d be at this. I would have expected average hike of 10% every year, 4 promotions and 15% hike on every promotion. Even if you were not competent enough.
But looks like this person has got none of those!

Hold on? Who is getting 10-11% hike in Indian companies?
Average calculation should be at 5-6%
This is not surprising at all. This is universally true. The years of experience don’t say much about the candidate or fit. You have to peel the many layers. And yes some do get very lucky or very unlucky. But still try to be more nuanced

Complacency costs you in the long run.
What is this interface btw? Is it a recruiter portal of some kind? An ATS? What is this clean looking thing??
