Is there any polite way to ask your coworkers’ salary?

I’m decently pally with my coworkers but there’s no way I’m pally (or rude) enough to ask them their salary but I’m really curious to know bcz my company is not on glassdoor and I have no way of knowing if I’m being paid at par or generally what the pay scale for different roles looks like. Junior coworker getting paid more than me.

Hey, I am a SWE with 2 yrs exp. recently I found out that juniors in my team are being paid atleast 10% more than me. This thing has been bugging me so much that I setup a meeting with my manager but here’s the thing- I have no idea how to talk about this to my manager. I obviously think it’s unfair given how much more work I am doing. Can experienced people here please guide me on how to approach this meeting? Thanks!

"Salaries on Grapevine" is useless unless we have a way to verify the data

We already have many platforms which do the same thing but their major problem is wrong/fake data. So one more similar platform is not going to change anything. It would be revolutionary, if you guys could come up with a way to verify the salaries. Otherwise it's just adding more noise to the already existing junk data. Requesting everyone to please suggest ideas for the same.

I see people discussing salaries ranging from 40lpa+ so casually here. Need to know if grapevine has junta who are happy earning average pay ~20lpa & don't really get FOMO. I mean, do we have to constantly keep thinking about what others are earning & not focus on bigger picture called LIFE?

Why do people feel uncomfortable to share their salary with peers?

why do people feel uncomfortable or bad about sharing salaries with peers of the same level? if you share it then only you will get to know how much you are getting paid comparatively and next time you ask what you deserve in appraisals. why are we not helping ourselves?
