Salary issues In Marketing
I have been actively applying for marketing jobs, the situation seems very dismal. Packages are pretty low, companies are not ready to pay above 12 lpa. Without an MBA, you will suffer. With an MBA, you will suffer but will have a loan to make life worse. What to do in the next one year to earn more than 30 lakhs

Are you a T-shaped marketer or a generalist?

Generalist too make 25+ LPA annually.
To get noticed, you definitely need a solid proof of work/portfolio.
I have noticed companies look for the following:
1. Mastery in e-commerce ads
2. Mastery in online lead generation (both organic and paid)
3. Ability to come up with innovative campaigns
Being generalist is fab, but if you can nail one aspect of digital marketing really well, you stand a chance to get noticed.

Also, keep in mind that 2020-22 was a period of inflated salaries. This trend is changing.
I am in marketing and I don’t think this is correct especially for startups. Of course they are not at par what tech gets but it’s not that bad either.

What is your specialization?
T-Shaped marketer with 3yoe,
Left my last job in December.
Applying for the last few weeks, my major problem is the lack of roles that I want.
I'm not looking to get into exactly the same social media + digital marketing role.
But all the other roles require experience in that particular domain like - Growth, or product marketing

I don't have any specialisation as such, I am trying to specialise in performance marketing and data analytics from a marketing standpoint.
I applied to many jobs and can see that people aren't ready to offer 12 plus Lpa to marketers unless you are an MBA.
Product marketing, Performance marketing and growth marketing are the domains where marketers can scale and get good salaries.
How are you planning to navigate the challenge?
Can we as marketer get a hike of let's say 80%?
