Shocking 😳
Privacy is a myth.
Snap texts are not E2EE and this is not the first incident like this, they intercept certain words and alert the authorities

I was unaware about SC but how do you know it was SC ?
"In January 2018, Snapchat introduced the use of end-to-end encryption in the application but only for snaps (pictures and video), according to a Snapchat security engineer presenting at the January 2019 Real World Crypto Conference. As of the January 2019 conference Snapchat had plans to introduce end-to-end encryption for text messages and group chats in the future." - Wikipedia
Also there's no mention of E2EE anywhere in privacy policy or in terms of service. People had just assumed that snap is completely E2EE

Not shocking. Have you heard of Pegasus? There could easily be something similar monitoring people anywhere anytime. Be it govt or private entities.
1. The student in question posted the joke threat as a Snapchat story.
2. Snapchat does not provide e2e encryption for texts.
3. That update (story) passed through LGW’s WiFi networks which is trained to detect keywords.
4. LGW alerted ATC and the rest is your incomplete story.
