Should I leave my oil PSU job to prepare for UPSC CSE?

I am currently working at an early stage startup as a software engineer and have been working here since around couple of years full time and an internship prior to that. I am getting a decent salary and the work environment is also good. But While I write this, I have started feeling stagnated and bored at work and feel that I am not growing in career. This is one reason that has led to me start slacking off at work and take long time to complete tasks.😓 However, I don't want this to continue and thus am here for advice. I am trying to apply to various companies but only to receive rejections. Not even getting an interview call. I am planning to prepare for MBA and the exam is in November. But since folks usually prepare for MBA alongwith job so it means I should continue my job if I want to do so which is another problem for me. I am even confused if I want to an MBA since only the product management role out of it attracts me and not the consulting/investment banking once. So I am not sure if I should even do an MBA. 😒 I discussed this with my parents and they asked me to leave job and prepare for UPSC. Honestly, I have some interest in the exam and the job is great as well no doubt but being 26 years old I am not fully sure of taking this call since it involves a lot of risk. All this has been causing lot of conundrum in my brain and it would be really helpful if anyone can suggest any things that I am missing out or that can be simplified.🙏

Hi! I’m in a huge dilemma and looking out for any advice I can get. I currently have 1.5 years of work ex and want to pursue MBA. Im confused if I should complete 2 years of work ex and then quit to do full time mba prep or quit right away to do prep. My quant is weak so I will need a lot of practice to crack CAT. 2 year criteria comes in so that I can keep options like ISB open as it requires a minimum of 2 year work ex. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Thinking of taking a break for approx 1/1.5 years from tech, and trying for UPSC / PSC. Wanted to understand how hard would it be to get back in corporate after the gap ? If someone has successfully tried and can share their experience, it would be really helpful.

I'm 24 year old unemployed. I graduated in 2021 with BTech IT from tier 3 college. Initially I was preparing for UPSC exam but I gave up after few months and now for a year I have been learning Front End Development and have learnt HTML, CSS, JS & ReactJS but unable to find a job. I made a lot of mistakes in past and didn't learned from them. I'm not good at anything. I apply daily at different platforms ex: wellfound (formerly angellist), hirist, hirect, instahyre, cutshort, individual mass hiring companies off campus but from nowhere I'm getting interview call even if I get call I'm not able to clear interview. Now the thing is my parents gave me ultimatun to get out of the house by April 1st they don't care what type of job I do. I don't understand what can I do now. I'm willing to do hardwork and learn from my mistakes I just need little guidance to get on a track. If anyone can guide me on how to get a job or any advice. I would really appreciate it. I am B.E. - Computer Science graduated in 2019. After that I started preparing for Upsc civil services exam. I didn't clear. So I decided to pivot to corporate sector. I upskilled myself for data analyst. I have been looking for job since last 1.5 year. But I am hardly getting any interview calls. Can't understand what am I doing wrong. Please help. If any opportunities or roadmap you know. Please let me know. Please help me and tell what am I doing wrong or what should I do. O am really depressed and stressed.

I have just graduated and started working in Bangalore at a core company(electronics related) with 20L in hand and another 20L in bonus, stocks etc. But my parents are asking me to write Civil Services, which I like as equal as a private job, but after I gave one upsc attempt this year, then I understood that UPSC requires lot of luck too, as the most of the questions are dynamic and no one can predict them. This is also said by many UPSC toppers too. Instead I am thinking to continue in private job and get salary hike or promotion every year by working hard or by switching to other companies which has good opportunities. Can anyone give insights on whether I should pursue Civil Services or should I work in private firms. Please also give reasons. Thank you in advance

So I left my job in Jan 2024 after 3.4 yoe. I wish to switch my profile to HR, and therefore, I wish to pursue an MBA degree. Now the problem starts: my family is pressuring me that if I'm unable to convert any good colleges, how will I justify my gap year so I should take up a job. I don't wish to take up a job since I want to focus entirely on CAT prep. They are also pressurising me that if I'm unable to convert, then I will have to start from scratch in HR with a low salary and they wish to see me married within next 2-3 years so why would a nice guy marry a girl who is earning 25k-30k a month. So I'm really stressed out. What should I do? Take up a job and then prepare for entrance, or ignore them and just focus on prep, like what's the solution? Everyone is talking about the problem, what's the solution?
