Is the tech. industry declining? What should the newcomers know before opting for this particular career path? Is there anything to fear about? A hype about the tech. jobs in society and especially in families of students choosing their career has made me ask this question. I hope a clear discussion with people who actually know about it will help.

What do you really use AI for?

Everyday I open youtube/grapevine/teamblind its has keywords AI + Shocked or it will replace our jobs.

My take on why AI might not replace our jobs.

1. Running AI agents or AGI requires significant electric power. If every company starts using it in some way in the future. All the code might be exposed. What if AGI builds its own version and starts selling and shuts down its employer considering its super intelligence.

2. If people dont pay taxes. How will government run? Who will buy the products in the market? Wont people start stealing/hurting others to meet basic needs?

3. Many jobs in todays world use computers in someform. But we only talk about the software engineers. There are non tech people who use computers in their works. Those are pretty much repetitive and can be easily automated. Many are not aware about chatgpt.

On the other end people talk about alternative jobs and the safest job is farming in most of the posts.

1. Cant the rich build humanoid robots to do the same. Can't big corporates buy lands and build vertical farms and run with robots.

2. What big corporates are going to do with the excess money laying us off in the end if all the jobs are taken, as if the people running or owning them are going to live their life eternally. Unless they find a way to upload their existence into a robot.

3. I'm not sure if people posting about AI taking jobs have worked on atleast building basic ML models like linear regression or used MNIST data to detect numbers using neural networks. For most of us AI is a blackbox and we 
do not know about its full potential.

My take on AI
1. AI can aid humans in their tasks or make developers like us to wear multiple hats. Like combination of backend, frontend, mobile, devops, machine learning, cybersecurity. Helpnus better debug.

2. I feel like all these CxO's just blabber to get high funding, spread fear while they chill in their yatch.

So many posts about AI taking our jobs. My take on it.

It's a every day news that software companies are adapting A.I. I have a doubt around that. As a developer everyone is aware of 2 or more programming languages and as we work we gain domain skills along with software development tools, devops, qa etc. I wanted to understand how AI is finding its place in software companies I mean  in what part of our daily work will AI comes in. if anyone has an example and explain that would be great. also as a Software developer how should I being AI learnings.

Career upskilling doubt

There's so much happening every day. I never really like the AI/ML courses of college (lol) but want to actually try the new stuff now. What'd you say is the best way of at least knowing the basics of whatever comes up daily?

I know I could just google (and I will), curious to know if y'all know of something which defines the base vocabulary needed to actually understand the daily breakthroughs.

Few things I've been meaning to know more about

- RLHF
- Fine tuning (what and how)
- LLM structure (should have kept up with LLM basics but I didn't lol, pls share stuff)

- LoRA/QLoRA (?? idk lmao)
- RAG (vectorisation of inputs + cosine similarity with query?)
- Mamba architecture (1. what, saw on twitter, no idea)

Currently downloading https://ollama.ai/ to try running llama locally.

AGI IS COMING ! New model launched by OpenAI. Scarily good at Coding & maths. And mind you, this model existed internally in october 2023 .

I’m amazed but not scared about AI/AGI, but eventually it will be regulated by government or self regulated by tech companies.  
  
 They will increase the premium plans so that mostly enterprise users can afford and to purchase individual plan, a person need to spend more than current price. 
  
 Don’t forget that AI is our assistant, don’t rely blindly on it, keep using your own brain for creative stuff. Human creativity >>>>> AI hallucinations

A lot of noise around AI taking coding jobs, which i fear might be real. Like not completely but you get my point. So how should one upskill themselves (especially the average folks, top 1/2% will not be affected in any field imo) for the upcoming shift? Like will data analytics/science or maybe ai/ml engineering jobs be on rise ? Should be start upskilling in those fields or any other suggestions? I would really like to know it from someone who has good experience in the industry or someone with good insight. Thanks
