Used Car Purchase
Any suggestions on good resale car dealers in Bangalore that you know of or have good experience with. Websites like Spinny, OLX are selling second hand cars on such a high rate that if you put 1-2 lacs more u can get a new model.
I'm looking at a Honda Brio S MT (Petrol) from Honda Auto Terrace with the below details: 2014-48,055Kms- 3,75,000 2105-59,426Kms-3,80,000
Is it a good deal worth checking out?
I'm planning to buy a car, preferably 2nd hand(As I don't know driving and want to learn) but if I don't get a good deal I'll have to go for a new one (Budget will be 10Lakhs on road, it is stretched as it is)
Any other places to look for 2nd hand cars? I have tried Maruti Truevalue and Toyota U Trust, but not getting good deals. Most of the cars have more kms on odometer and price doesn't justify it. Same with Spinny and OLX)OLX is filled with dealers and scammers).
Looking forward to some suggestions from fellow viners.
Also, how to arrive at the fair price of a vehicle?
Buy automatic.
But I will not be able to learn proper driving. Most people suggest to learn driving on Manual transmission first and then move to automatic.
Is there any reason you are suggesting automatic to a complete beginner? If so, Can you please explain?
The joy of riding a car dies quite soon. In the long term comfort makes all the difference.
For a beginner Brio is good. Coming to Odo readings they can be manipulated so.. i feel as long as you are feel safe n comfortable inside the cabin and the engine is responsive its fine.
i have bought Brio V MT (Petrol) with an odo reading of 84k+ kms for 2L from TrueValue in june. Clocked 3k+ kms post that and it does perform pretty well.
For price i estimated the avg depreciation of the car per year to be 30k and a figure around +20k to the price post depriciation looked fine to me. Hence grabbed the deal.
Thank you very much bro🙏 for explaining in detail. Much appreciated. Now I have got a fair idea on how to arrive at the fair price of a vehicle (Or at least close to it).
Glad to know that. I feel most of Honda cars are more or less very reliable. That's why I'm looking at Honda(Or even Toyota).
Btw, how much is the maintenance costs every year?
I bought a brio around 10 years back. Have done 80k+ and it still drives really smooth. Very easy to drive, low maintenance. Boot space is small and that’s probably the only reason I will get a new car.

I need to buy a car for my daily commute but I don't know shit about cars and don't want to get scammed/pay more than required. So how do I get good deals or what do we need to check while buying a second hand car
I want to buy a second hand hatchback. This will be my first car and I’ve zeroed in on Tata or Hyundai models. Will most likely use Spinny to buy the car. What should I lookout for when making a decision? I already plan to get the newest...
