Backend always  
 In data you will deal with people who just familiar with sql or people who didn’t get engineering job. 
 Also your works belong to products managers. You don’t have any visibility. You don’t own any important business part. If data pipeline stops no one cares . So move to backend asap

Which stack would be good for backend?? Python Django or Java Springboot?? Mern is too crowded

Swe Backend vs Data engineering (serious)- Grapevine

Have almost 2 yoe as swe Backend. I have worked only in Java and nothing else. The work is related to data engineering cum backend. Worried about future on how to switch etc. Should go towards backend path or data engineering path. How to upskill and move ahead??

Ps: have acquired some knowledge of django, springboot, gcp etc. what else I should know??

Need Advice Backend SWE

Hi All,

I have 6 YOE. Initial 2.5 years I worked as Backend developer in Python, Django, AWS and Little bit JS.
After that all of my experience is in Data Engineering mostly in GCP (have few certifications as well.)
Currently I am working at Walmart.

Most of the work I do in Data side is adhoc and projects are also not upto the expectations lot of manual work is also there. I am not really enjoying my career as data engineer. Pay is good.

I am thinking to move back to Software Engineering, 
1. is it a good idea for long term? 
2. What skill should I focus on if I have to move back? 
3. Is it just the projects that I am working on making data engineer look less interesting to work ?

Hi, to give a little background, I started working as a data scientist in a quite well paying startup straight out of college. (CS grad from a tier-2 engineering college, NIT/IIIT)
But due to having more interest in software engineering, I picked up mostly engineering work (I've mostly worked using Java, springboot, python, flask, fastAPI etc). But now after 1.5 years of experience i want to switch to swe roles, my query is, will my current role i.e. 'data scientist' be a road blocker, even if I've many engineering works to mention in my resume? 

And is there a way to resolve this, without switching roles internally, as the team said it takes 6-12 months to do this due to company policy, and i really don't wanna be stuck here for that amount of time anymore.

I am a final year cse student,got.placed as an associate data scientist/engineer at tredence analytics at 12lpa,I was trying for backend roles but couldn't get in as i used to get rejected after reaching the last round due to 1-2 intake bcz of recession.
My joining is in August i tredence,should i keep my quest for switching to backend roles after working in tredence or move forward in data engineering as this role also looks very promising (I know my question is very subjective but i am okay with either roles as long as I am able to increase my package as money has been the only source of motivation till now for me , coming from a middle class family)
How easy is it to shift to backend roles after being  in data roles?

I am unemployed since 1 year,did not do anything for 1 year coz of some reason , earlier I was in QA but now want to get into development. Already 1 year is gone which is big enough career gap and I am panicking. Now I am not able to understand whether I should join any software development course like Crio or shall I join any Data science/ML course. Whatever I have to do it will take 6 months more , but I guess I have no choice. I know basic nodejs and all but no knowledge of Data science however DS will be more in demand in future so that is why I am thinking about that. But I am not sure which one shall I take ?

I just wanted to know from folks that can anyone learn Data science in 6 months good enough to get a job or shall I opt for software development course. Also , if I shall go for data science course , please suggest me some good training institute for it.

I am a senior Data engineer(9YOE) and have worked on a large scale Data warehousing, Spark, Orchestration(Airflow) and visualization on AWS and Azure. I currently don't have scope for tech stack improvement in my current org and would like to learn and implement my personal projects. So far, I have been advised to learn golang and kubernetes so that I could deploy ML models in the future or even move into observability space. Any suggestions on what tech stack I should learn? I want to jump to startups in a couple of months and eventually move into a pure software engineering role. 
Already working on leetcode and practicing system design for the same.

Aspiration : Data Engineering Role

1. Is the above techstack enough to get me a good data engineering role? Will I be able to clear the technical rounds at companies like accenture, IBM etc with this profile? I have heard the barrier to entry for data engineering is higher than that of data analyst.

2. Do I need to learn DSA?

3. What salary range do I fall in with this profile? 


I seek your honest answer. I feel lost. 

Also, should I focus more on improving my cloud skills or shall I be more competent with my python skills? Which one would pay me off in a better sense financially? I certainly can not focus on all the tools at once.

India represents an untapped potential for greater Internet penetration+advancements in Speed compared to other advanced economies. 

This should ideally unlock greater data generation per capita. This will ideally allow us to map geo-specific patterns across e-commerce/social-networks/OTT/Finance/Healthcare/EdTech etc. 

Data as a moat may just be real. Think of how you can switch to:
(in this order of preference)

Data Engineering > ML/AI/Data Science > Analytics

Having YOE under your belt when the wave picks up will take you further than anyone else.
