Taking a career break

Has anyone here with Tech work experience (India) (not from MAANG or any reputed companies, or tier 1 colleges ) taken a career break for personal reasons ? Not talking essential leaves maternity break or something like that, but more like for well being/upskilling/travel etc, whatever it maybe. Could you share your experience ?

What was your experience like getting back to work/interview experience ?

I am considering taking one myself. I know this is normalised on Europe, but I feel in India, many people (esp. some recruiters) find this weird and most people are even scared about taking a break.

Thoughts ?

Happened with me. I joined a shitty startup at end of 2019, because of work culture i was super drained so i resigned and planned to take break for few months. Then march 2020 happened and world stopped. I panicked and started applying for jobs, atleast 50-70 applications daily. Gave interview at approx 10 companies and got 2 offers after 3 months. Thankfully i am still working at one of the company.

Glad things worked out for you.
Taking a break should be normalised imo, as long as you have the skills required to do the job and clear the interview. Judging somebody based on breaks is toxic.

I am trying to switch but I've got like a 3 month long notice period. Recruiters ghosting a lot, funny thing is they have 3 month notice themselves and they want someone who can join in 2 weeks, like 🤷.

So I was thinking of taking a break for a while, but the current market conditions not so sure. Let's see 🙈

Hey, Don't worry about it. I think I commented on your post here. Just do the resignation. You'll be fine. And yes, breaks should be normalized
