The Job Role OG

This is not a question for the cocky new grad in the overvalued startup, but for the few seasoned PMs that still reply out here. Where do PMs go after they peak? By peaking I mean arriving at a GPM or Staff PM position at the top 10-15 companies (you can do your own ranking here). Nobody has the true statistics but I will use the assumption that 75% (debatable) of those who peak, will get laid off within 2 years from their ‘peak role’. The remaining will be able to progress into DoP and VP in the same top company or another in the top 15. Where do they go then? I am pretty positive, from experience, that they don’t go any up. Do they go down the ladder of new startups for titles and ending up in the worst ones after being laid off 4-5 times? Do they quit all together? Do they open a farm? Do they start their own startup? Comments and thoughts folks!

Hey folks. Wanted to understand what could be a fair salary for an experienced content manager at a Series A fintech. Currently earning 6.5lpa (working remotely), and feel I am underpaid. Help me out with what you have seen folks in this role get paid.

I joined my first job 2 months ago and am already bored. The work is monotonous and barely requires intellectual effort or creativity. I have been interested in Graphics and AR/VR since my initial year in college. And feel like I should take a leap of faith and join someone trying to build something exceptional in this field. Looking to know and connect with people trying to do something related to this.

Incoming!. Every FAANG PM is thinking about and working on integrating Gen AI into their features. This includes PMs and engineers who oversee 1-2 features in the entire product. And will oversell their part in it. For promotions to job switches these guy have to shout ‘I used a lot of Gen AI to change the world’ And then to sell it on LinkedIn for getting likes. The PMs will sound like they were just as visionary as Sam Altman who made GPT in the first place. And the engineers will sound like they coded GPT and will invent AGI themselves while they just integrate 2 APIs. You’ve been warned.

I just wanted to initiate this conversation and collect different point of views from all professions. My opinion is that I am in a generalist job and I feel 80% of the work is senseless if work done by my juniors is automated. If there are optimized control loops, AI will do it better than humans. There has not been layoffs in my company, but people who have left, their replacements have not been hired.

AI is unlike any other past technology revolution. It is going to make cost of intelligence trending toward zero. Going by exponential curve of AI growth, in next 3-4 years, we are going to have an AI model which can code better than 95% of coders... Deep mind already has model Alphacode which can code better than 50% of competitive coders. People are living in fool's paradise by thinking that AI will create massive amount of job.... It won't because it will make cost of intelligence near to zero making coding, analyst, consultant, product management job redundant.... What takes 100 coders to build a product won't take more 10 coders in few years from now...
