Layoffs are happening at Sharechat starting today. Each division is being asked to join a call and they are being announced. First call with product org - around 50 folks were impacted

Hi All, As we have seen many startups are firing highly paid engineers and hiring for the same post with way less salaries. Is it only happening because the market is bad? Are these salaries going to be the new normal for engineers? Given that people are ready to take jobs even with less salaries. I wanted to know your thoughts.

Hi guys hope you are all doing well and if not I wish you do super soon. I just had this question in my mind as why the companies hold/delay the salaries to employees and give it back to them after 3-9 days of delay on the new month when the actual salary count is calculated between 1-30/31st of every previous month. Is there any specific reason?

Hiring for a bunch of roles for an early stage startup. Salaries of people who have been laid off is through the roof 2-3 years experience asking for 30-40l and while we chose not to judge the experience and spoke to a few of them, most of them are not even worth half of the pay. Many are jobless since last 2-3 months and none of them are willing to take a paycut of even 5-6L and are willing to stay jobless ( probably have a ton of savings ) Market correction is necessary. Roles : PM, software engineers, generalists

Almost 50% of the org got no increments People with "exceeds" rating got single digit increments Only promotion cases have got early to mid double digit increments Promotions have been significantly fewer this time, max people have been told to hold off their expectations of promotions for another year The reasons cited were economic slowdown, other companies like Microsoft, Flipkart, swiggy, Amazon doing the same and cost cutting. I think things are getting toxic and the majority of employees have been left disappointed.

I understand that companies want to start new year with new energy. But doing it in the last working week of this year is just nuts. Let folks enjoy the year. Do it in Jan first/ second week. By doing now, you’re literally spoiling this year and the next. To founders out there: grow some spine, tell your investors you won’t do it now. I don’t think it’ll hurt your company much (I mean you’ve not done enough, and that’s the reason you’re in this mess, probably suck it up and wait for few more weeks) To the folks out there, who got impacted, my heart goes out to you all. Good luck. Market is tough, but I know you guys will make it.

Lot of Developers are leaving the company (specially frontend) because of low salaries, limited scope of work and Return to office policy. Company is silently creating an atmosphere where developers are leaving on their own. Company is also not planning to provide any good pay raise in the upcoming appraisals. Time to leave the company :(

I worked with an early stage startup for 3.5 Years. Since this January they started facing a fund crunch and delayed our salaries. I left the job in May but till date they haven't paid me 3 months salary. Upon asking they say they don't have funds to pay salary, we will pay when we close our funding round. What should I do in this case. Should I wait and hope they will pay or just forget about it any suggestions?
