Unhappy with the hike i got
Hi Grapeviners Recently got a hike of mere 2%, even after working day and night and delivering projects on time. I was hoping for a good hike and a promo. Some politics from business and HR really screwed my case. Should i talk to: 1. HR: Raise the issue and tell them that i'm unhappy and make it official 2. Talk to Manager, now that genie is the out of the box, I don't think they can do much How do you end up dealing with a situation like this?
Don't talk to the HR, it will be a waste of time. Don't complain to your manager either.
Don't show how unhappy you are to your co-workers. If your management doesn't respect you, then leave this place and look for another job where they will value and respect you. If you're a star employee, they'll call you back with an offer.

Because no matter how much you discuss with hr or manager, max they would reply with "you will definitely get a good raise in the next appraisal cycle", indirectly holding you up for more 6months with a false hope.
I had a similar experience in 2021. I joined gojek in 2020 and after my first where i worked on so many things, i just got a hike of 3%. They did it during the peak covid time and i had no idea what to do.
I knew manager & hr won’t do anything as they signed on it. They said they normalised my rating to meets expectations and that next year magic will happen. I happily smiled & within 1 month started looking for jobs outside. Luckily I got a job with good hike and i resigned. The manager just yelled at me and said i am stupid and not seeing the big picture.
I didn’t argue and just left since i overall liked the tech and work done at gojek.
Same is my recommendation to you. just work minimal going forward and switch if possible.
If you really feel that gojek is good for you then talk to manager about what should you pick this year to be excellent contributor and start showing off your work more across channels & create more docs. Next time have 2-3 folks vouch for you (got to know this strategy from another friend in gojek)
Overall stay strong and work in what direction you like

in my previous company (a bank), my skip level manager told me that the company basically doesn't care about anyone who gets a hike below the inflation rate, it's a sign that you should leave.
It would be ineffective to answer this question without knowing your current salary /designation. And the line of business of your organisation.
If you are closer to fresher and are getting 2% leave the company. If you are in senior management then no. So see the level makes the difference.
If you are in upcoming business company then it's low. But if it is a business which is prone to recession then wait and watch
Your manager signed off on it. It’s probably he agrees with his rating. HR’s task is to side with the company at all times, so you’ll be on the wrong foot with them.
Do what you do best. Continue with your job responsibilities deligently, but also keep an eye out for other job postings.
Get out. But with no fuss or burned bridges.
As an HR my suggestion is get a new job offer then resign. If they really wanna keep you they’ll give you a counter offer. If not you’re better off outside anyway

So you are telling me you got -5% pay cut 🥹.
Let your manager know you know your market worth and soon will be quiting. Do this over call.
If you are underpaid you will get good raise , if you aren’t then you will be better raise than this.
Maybe you were already on higher end of your level and they didn’t want to promote. Thus, less scope of salary increment
It’s not going to get better at least for next 6 months. I’ve started applying to other companies
