Upskilling vs interview prep

I feel there is a serious disconnect between what we do in our day to day job vs what's asked in interviews. I like learning new tech but I hate doing interview prep like doing Leetcode, LLD, HLD. I would much rather talk about the work that I am doing, my personal projects, etc during interviews but all high paying jobs like FAANG/big startups will always ask DSA and all during interviews regardless. How should I spend my time in learning new tech vs doing interview prep as I feel the interviews have gotten much harder and it takes a long time to get proficient in DSA, LLD, HLD?

You will learn a lot things while preparing for interviews and then you can apply them in your projects as well. There will be lot new things which you haven't heard in your work which you can learn and get exposure. See the positives

True nowadays they are asking HLD for sde 1. A few days ago I was reading an interview experience on leetcode for sde 1. He had 1 yoe and they asked him for HLD of grocery delivery application

How do guys balance daily work and upskilling?

Same as title. These days due to low job security and having faced layoff last year, I always feel the need to continuously do interview prep like DSA, LLD, etc even when I am not actively looking for a job. Plus, due to new technologies coming up, I feel the need to keep upskilling too. If I don't upskill or do interview prep continuously, I feel guilty as if I am wasting time. I feel like at this point, I am just living life to upskill and interview prep. Is there a way to balance all this along with work as it gets very tiring after a while and I feel burnt out?

Interview prep as a Frontend Dev?

After working for 2 years as a Frontend dev fresh out of college, I was looking to prep for a change now. A lot of what I searched about frontend interviews involved JS/HTML/CSS and some framework-specific fundamentals which makes sense. However, I've also seen a lot about people brushing up on algorithms, practising leetcode which I found painful since it rarely pops up in actual work, if at all. Any idea on what I should focus on? Or any help when navigating the interview process?

Interview advice needed: DSA & LLD

I am a Golang Developer, with around 3yr of experience. Previously, in college, I have practiced DSA in C++. Also, I knew some Java which I used while learning OOPS(LLD) in college. Now since I am considering to switch, I need to revise and practice DSA again. For the last 3 years I have not touched C++ or Java and I love working in Golang. But, now I am in a dilemma. Question: Should I try to relearn the syntaxes of C++ for DSA? Question: For LLD, since Golang does not support “pure” object oriented programming, should I try to practice those in Java? Question: Will it be worth the effort to relearn the syntaxes for the languages I did not use for a long while, for interview preparations?

I have joined a startup as Backend Developer Intern. I get a stipend of 6K/ Month. They said they will offer full time position after internship, but the salary will be 10-12K. The only good thing is I am directly working on a live project. I am making REST APIs there. I have 5 months of time. What should I do? Should I learn react or should I learn backend concepts more deeply. I am also planning to apply for jobs side by side. Give your valuable thoughts on what should I do?

DSA and job switch

Wondering how much does not knowing DSA and lack of practice of LC hurt your chances of getting hired ? For context I am an sde with 1 yoe from tier 1 college been out of touch with dsa for over 1.5 yrs and I am planning on making my first job switch, I believe I know my job very well and am good at what I do better than most of the people around me but just out of touch with dsa.

🙏Require help in interview prep

I have an interview coming up with a fintech company in the internal tools/platform team that builds tools for SRE team. YOE: 3 years Have worked with Go, Kubernetes and mainly around infrastructure operations/programming. How should I go about preparing for the interview?
