Urgent help

I have been wfh for than a year now, my parents would keep ordering me to do small household work even when I’m working. I have asked them not to do that as it distracts me, but they will not simply listen and even scold me and compare me with others that they help their parents 😅 I have thought about just going to a different city and wfh from there but my parents are also getting old so have to think about that also.

I am in a frustrating situation - wherein one of my colleagues who is just one year senior to me on my team is a bully and often mistreats people on the team. Being a new member on the team I am often the one who gets laughed upon or made a fool out of. It almost feels like I am in college and getting ragged.

So I am wirking with an early stage startup and for a very large client, I along with one of my colleague have to travel to client location. So initially the admin provided us with a 2BHK flat with separate room for each one, but because of bad services we moved to a hotel where I have to share the room with this colleague. I have never slept with someone who snores and bere I am. This man snores continuously and keeps me awake whole night. Though once he mentioned about it but lately his snoring is on peak and is disturbing my sleep. I understand the current state of company hence can’t demand for a separate room as well. I don’t want to call this out. He gets to sleep pretty well, I am getting jealous as well of it. What should I do? I am thankful that I am going back to my home over weekend, but coming back next week is haunting me. I don’t know what should i do?? 😭😭😭

How do you guys deal with toxic people in tech, especially when they are your seniors or you work with them everyday? We are a small team and the senior I have is an extremely shit person. We decide something while design discussions, and product discussion but he changes his mind and asks to completely revamp the solution after it's implemented. Extremely close-minded to new or different ideas or different ways of doing things. Also frequently insults people on the call. I know one solution is to leave the company but that can't always be the case and when the team is small, sometimes these people become unavoidable. So looking for ideas on how other people deal with toxic peers/seniors in their workplace.

Wrote a non-smokers rant and with a fellow user's inputs, realized it should be drafted better as a discussion for the greater good. 1) Passive second-hand smoking is not only harmful but irritating too. There are designated smoking zones in offices but not all smokers exclusively stick to them given the numbers at the tea joints just outside the office buildings. Are smoking zones undersized? Chai n/a? Need wider space? 2) Outside office hours, smoking in public places causes the same problem. When you walk while smoking, the people behind you suffocate. If there're shared balconies or close windows, that smoke makes way into your neighbor's place. If they complain, consider at least changing your smoking place if shifting is not possible for either of you. 3) Use the best possible smell suppressing method, chewing gum or whatever during office hours if you don't have an isolated desk or you have to attend meetings. People feel embarrassed to bluntly call it out. Don't make them suffer. 4) If you have the resources, have you tried to consider quitting? There are Psychiatry/Neurology specialists for this. You, your loved ones and non-smokers all will be grateful. I tried my best to humbly put the points across. It isn't intended to offend anyone.

I have a colleague who has a really low bar on personal hygiene. They smell and this is something I started noticing recently. Once I started noticing it, I cannot take my mind off it every time this colleague comes near me to talk. How do I tell them about this? He/She is a very nice person at heart and they probably have no idea about this.

Is it okay for an organisation to encourage pfficial communication over whatsapp? I am in 20+ whatsapp groups. Manager keeps on texting on group on Sundays as well day and night. Need to know community's views on this.

Since I work remotely, I get a lots of dms asking for *quick calls*. Every time I see a message, I get slightly panicked. Is it normal? How do you guys deal with it?
