I was just wondering and thinking why do we Indians give so much attention to cricketers, actors.. like we started worshiping them and in the end we end up like disappointed.  

For example like infamous virat kholi currently living in London. He decided to move because he needed some space from all media attention and wanted to live normal people life like normally walk on road n stuff which was not possible in india like huhh he is the VIRAT . Like i have also seen him attending kirtans like imagine someone leaving india to attend kirtans abroad like really ?? Unlike sachin sir we compare him with virat or like dhoni they never had such prblms why only virat. I have seen many people living india instead they should live in india and work for its betterment. 

I think its time for us to retrospective ourself are we giving to much attention to the things like do they even deserve it ? All i am saying we indians are way too emotional and we should learn to calm us down with all these things and really think about this!!

Background: The upcoming movie "Stree 2" starcast had planned a show at Ambience Mall today at 6 pm. They did lots of videos and stories on Instagram (which were later deleted - fishy, in my opinion).

The show started at 5:30 pm, which was early according to Indian Standard Time /s. 
Every 15 minutes, the host would shout that the starcast was arriving any minute now. 
We had arrived at 5 pm and were waiting until 7:30 pm, still no one showed up. 
They passed the time by making the audience dance and sing, and they just kept at it till there was enough crowd.

Now angry, I spoke to an Ambience Mall staff member to ask if they were even coming. He said they would come at 8 pm. That was the scheduled time. Scheduled time? But all the ads and posts said 6 pm? He said, "Yeah, the events team needs that much time. This is how every celebrity event happens."

Maybe I'm new to this, but is this how celebrity events happen? People waste hours waiting to see their favorite actors or actresses? It's also the sunk cost fallacy. Like in my case, I had traveled 14 km to see them, now leaving without what I had come for would be a double loss.

Though this really pissed me off, because I didn't value my time well. 
These 3 hours could have been used for more productive work.

The starcast arrived at 8:05 pm and left at 8:25 pm. We waited 2 hours just to see them speak and dance for 20 minutes.

Fucking pissed with self and how we as Indians let us others treat us.

I could never understand this madness to have a glimpse of a superstar, who wouldn't even know that you exist or you were there in the millions of people cheering for him/her!

People unabashedly protect their idols, argue, fight, upto the point of own sacrifice (metaphorically and literally, in some cases), bruising their own relationships for the idol who doesn't give a damn!

Why? Why? Why?

Is it some sort of idol worship that evades my senses or is it that people's lives are so vacant, so meaningless that they borrow their credibility by being merged with a superstar who has done some damn things in his/her life?

As a 24-year-old, lately it feels like everyone wants to move abroad.  I've noticed a growing trend among my peers and even older generations: the desire to leave India for better opportunities abroad.

Most of my cousins have moved to the United States while many of my friends are going to Germany/France/Netherlands. 

I am still unsure. I have faced SH in this country in public places and so have many other women I know.  My parents have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and if I decide to go, they will fund my education.

Hence asking this. Is it worth the high taxes we are paying in this country to stay or go abroad make some money and live life for ourself?

What is making you stay in this country?

I'm already making 32L base in India. That's why the opportunity cost seems high.

After living in Bangalore for several years, I reached a breaking point in 2020. I was stuck in traffic on MG Road, surrounded by honking cars and the smell of pollution. Later that evening, I went to a café on Brigade Road, hoping to unwind, but the harassment I faced while walking back was the final straw. Some idiot bike rider groped my butt and fled away in the dark. I was left shocked and grief stricken. You can't imagine how many showers I took that night and cried myself to sleep.

A college friend in Toronto sent me a picture from a local festival, showing people dancing freely in the streets, celebrating without a care. It hit me hard, I craved that sense of belonging and peace.

I applied for a master’s program abroad thereafter. By 2021, I was on a plane to Canada. The first time I wandered through the snowy streets of Toronto, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. I knew I’d made the right choice, and since then, I've embraced every moment.

I’ve had some experience (2/3 of my life) staying abroad but didn’t make it into any full time long term roles and moved to India. But if given an opportunity I do want to go abroad, it’s just difficult. I see folks here that moved back to India intentionally. Why did you do that? What about India made you come back?
