"Amazon AI has no AI" - Did not get this..

The just walk out stores that they claimed were AI based, actually had some desi people looking at live stream from cameras and tagging the products that were taken by the customers. Basically a scam in the name of AI

Hola people! Today I am gonna tell what is happening in Swiggy since last couple of months. This is a everyday story in Swiggy’s private feed on this app. So thought to enlighten others as well. Sit back, grab a coffee and enjoy the rant of a frustrated employee.

For everyone’s understanding, work culture in Swiggy has gone for a toss. Employees are working day and night to meet the never ending and unexpected goals set by our leaders. All because of the next year planned IPO. Many talented folks have left the company and many are in the process. New CTO is trash and super aggressive. Empathy died a million times the moment he became the CTO.  The only goal which the company has now is to deliver FAST! Nothing else matters. This is for literally every org!  

Micromanagement has significantly increased and you are expected to provide update for every damn thing! Employee motivation level is literal 0 and no one gives a f**k about anything. Some people are put in PIP and there is no chance of coming back from there. Cost cutting is being done on whatever means possible to achieve profitability. 

Number of outages in the last few months have significantly increased and most of the employees are working in the weekends to complete their assigned tasks. People are just surviving and will leave the moment any opportunity knocks at the door. Its sad to see a company who was once known for its work culture is now struggling on almost every front. 💔

Saw this random video in which Ashneer was asking the reason why no loans are available on current accounts in banks in India. Really made me think and I couldn't come up with any logical reason.

So many companies have cash reserves they build over time, what's the point of taking a loan or transferring that amount to different accounts instead of just using current account balance and getting an interest on it? It's not a taxable account, but the money is just sitting there with no interest accumulation or utility.

Thoughts? Are there any startups that are maybe addressing this problem?

A big challenge for arguably most early stage startups is going from 2-3 lakhs per month to 5-10 lakhs per month and more in revenue. Market is willing to provide credit or loans for the latter but not the former.

It's the former that need it more but there are no collateral free loan options in the market that are reasonable. Even though India collects hefty tax and revenue from global businesses with digital platforms and products, it's unwilling to provide collateral-free loans to startups born in India.

The best you can get is from NBFCs or private lenders at more than 12-15% interest (which is often more than the net profit for a lot of startups, hence impractical). Most govt loans and schemes aren't applicable to a large portion of startups because of their criteria.

Even setting up the company can often take months. GST and taxes are a nightmare. Where is this "ease of business" that people talk about?

Unless entrepreneurs bankroll everything from their own pockets, there is almost no way for bootstrapped startups to build and grow sustainably in India.

I've never met a single entrepreneur who availed a govt scheme to get loans for their business in India. I wonder where all that budget money went.
