I will go first with a few I came across today : 

1. Oura Ring - similar to ultrahuman I would say 

2. Whoop - Health and fitness tracker band 

3. Bio beat - Heath monitoring wrist band 

4. Humane - the AI pin maker , works as an assistant

Apart from model makers, which AI startup (or sector) do you think will succeed?

How is your company trying to navigate the issue of AI. Today my boss was shown preview of Gemini which google will publicly launch between October to December and he was mind blown by how far AI has come. I have a friend  working in Amazon, Seattle and his team is working on automating customer support in most of the language which will be public by early next year.   Given computing bottlenecks will be sorted out by Q3 2024, I am expecting tsunami change in how white collar jobs operates. 

What are some good initiatives your team is taking to deal with AI?

What is your company's AI strategy?

Keep in consideration: Pay, WLB, culture, learning curve, when should we join (as a fresher or when retiring), growth, opportunites, etc

I will go first:
Any FAANG/ MAANG, so I can make a clout and start selling courses :)

Have heard about companies we shouldnt work for, how about a list of companies you want to work for?

Seeing this for a few weeks now. Noticed it when PG tweeted about how there are 100 ai startups in the batch and all are legit. That is none of then it’s phony or opportunistic. He also talked about how domain experts are building in AI and great founders. 

Then saw Garry Tan promoting the batch and retweeting others doing it. A couple of other partners talked about the companies they are excited about too. 

To me, this signals that yc isn’t getting the kind of interest they used to get and they have to promote the quality of the batch to be able to generate enough interest. For the first time in 10-15 years maybe. If they have to do it to ensure the companies are getting enough funding interest, what about startups without a brand name behind them. 

We will see more of these as we get close to the demo day. Most startups are just ai wrappers or agents. Not sure about the exact differentiation between them. Not clear from the descriptions or websites.

I've been curious about whether there are any good Indian startups in the AI field that are not building "tools" like meeting summary or anything of that sort. But more like research based such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Midjourney, etc.
They could be early stage or late stage, doesn't matter. Have you guys seen any around you with potential?

These Technologies will change the way we live, communicate, do work and do businesses completely from bottom up

1. AI - already happening at the top layer at scale

2. IoT - Connected Things & Digital Twins

3. Web3 - Decentralized Internet Ecosystem

4. xR(AR + VR + MR) - experiences

5. Advanced Robotics

Just in the next 10 years or less than that.

While there are lot of VCs coming out with their ‘expert’ outlook on 2024, let’s be real to share our own predictions. Idea is to share and learn and not just mudsling.

Let me go first with few of my own

1. Neobanking will go belly up - it’s really hard to make money in just Savings account led neobanking I believe. With lending increasingly difficult, I think we will see likes of Jupiter going belly up

2. Gold mine of climate tech - climate tech will become more mainstream stream (similar to content and community in 2021, D2C in 2022 and SaaS in 2023)

The first genuine AI company from India which seems promising because (a) Founders are extraordinary (b) backed by Khosla Ventures

AI is unlike any other past technology revolution. It is going to make cost of intelligence trending toward zero. 

Going by exponential curve of AI growth, in next 3-4 years, we are going to have an AI model which can code better than 95% of coders... 

Deep mind already has model Alphacode which can code better than 50% of competitive coders. 

People are living in fool's paradise by thinking that AI will create massive amount of job.... 

It won't because it will make cost of intelligence near to zero making coding, analyst, consultant, product management job redundant.... 

What takes 100 coders to build a product won't take more 10 coders in few years from now...
