What does he wanna say

He is talking about reducing the number of attempts a person can take so that they don’t waste their prime years preparing for UPSC. That 12th fail is a PR work for UPSC institutions. I agree with his opinion.

The point is a very valid point. They should reduce the number of attempts to 1-2. My best friend from college opted to go for UPSC after college. It’s been 6 years and 4 attempts and he only qualified for Mains once. I feel really bad for him as well as the lakhs of people who are wasting their time in this. It’s much easier to pivot and go to a new job after 2 attempts at 25 then after 6 attempts at 32. Companies also will usually not be willing to take in a 32 year old fresher in most cases. The government increases the number of attempts to win votes. It’s not good for the economy either. If many of these people were working or running a business, it would create better results for all of us. Coaching industry for exams earns too much money to reduce the focus on exams and more focus on what happens after the exam.

I do think that UPSC should limit to giving 3 attempts . That’s enough to prove a mettle for candidate . Also , people will not waste years in preparation. They can do some useful productive work.
