I joined the company in september, its been six months. But the company is saying that you need to complete atleast 9 months to be eligible for appraisals. The cycle happens once in a year. If I miss this cycle, then I need to wait for atleast 18 months since I joined for getting a raise. I joined this company on same package while making a switch, because I was desparate to get a job in my hometown.

Hey everyone,

I'm in a situation with my company's appraisal policy and could use some outside perspective.

The details:
- The company has a 1-year appraisal policy
- My work anniversary is July 3rd
- Co-founder says new salary will only be credited next month because my anniversary falls "in the middle of the month"

My view:
I should get the new salary this month on a pro-rata basis - the old salary is for 2 days, and the new salary is for 29 days.

Questions:
1. Is the company's stance normal practice?
2. Has anyone successfully argued for pro-rata salary updates in similar situations?
3. Any HR pros here who can weigh in on best practices?
4. How would you approach this conversation with management?

I'm trying to decide if this is worth pushing back on or if I should just let it go. Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Appraisal Timing Dispute - Need Advice

Hi All, 
I joined Deloitte in Nov,2023. During my joining i negotiated with the HR regarding the increment of my base pay as it was too less. HR gave me two options, 1. Either take a joining bonus of 50k with the same package, 2. Or be eligible for the next appraisal cycle i.e. april 2024. 

I wondered if my efforts in the project will be recognised or not by the end of april. So i choose to take the joining bonus with the same package. 

The HR has left the firm and i am not sure whom to ask and approach regarding the appraisal query. Will i still be ineligible for an appraisal of even 5-10% this year?

First year of brand marketing job for an early series, well funded fintech startup. 

My previous (first) job had ₹45K (5.5LPA) in hand after a role upgrade, but for this job I had to move out of my city, use up all my emergency fund, have a LOT more expenses now and the in-hand came up to just ₹51K (6.5LPA + 1L bonus + esops)

Had no leverage at the time of signing so didn't say anything. 

The real kicker? I was hired as part of a strat change that the founder pushed for, and my impact has been immediate and undeniable. Our metrics doubled within 6 months of me joining and we're a respected brand in our vertical. 

I am doing gigs on the side to start rebuilding my emergency fund coz salary se barely kuch bachta hai.

I want a comp revision before the appraisal, but too nervous to ask for it.

Could use some advice or just tell me if I'm being a dumbass for having these expectations

A little background info before I get into the details:

I have left appraisals at the table (twice) to pursue better opportunities which offered me a varied job role. I am now stuck at the same organization for two years and my appraisal conversation has been going on for 7 months. Ridiculous, I know. This company has no growth prospects. I have not grown in the last two years in any aspect. Regret the day I left the appraisal & job promotion at my previous organization to join this company.

Naturally, I've started my job search and have landed a few offers but no one seems to offer me more than 30% and I need to correct my salary. 

How's the best way to ensure I get a package that can offer over 30%? I need atleast 45-50% to correct my salary.

I work in a fintech company. Revenue and growth wise we are good, we just got acquired by a large internet platform too. Also, last year has been a tremendous learning for me as well. I like being PM but looking to move out of my current industry (lending) as I want to explore other domains and I feel like my CTC here is somewhat low (18.5 + 1.5 bonus) considering my experience (around 4.5 years). My boss said that I will get ESOPS (around 10 lacs) which I can liquidate around 50% this year. Should I wait for my appraisal to complete (will happen around April) and look to switch or should I start preparing for interviews now itself?

In this year's appraisal cycle, I got a good performance rating but bad hike and no promotion 😔
Currently multiple projects are highly dependant on me, and it will be difficult for the company to find a good replacement (Subtle flex, but it's true), and due to this I feel like I'm underpaid at my current level.

Have you ever been in a similar situation? How did you negotiate a better salary? Should I look for a better offer outside and ask my current org if they can match it or resign? Because next appraisal/promotion will only happen a year later from now.

This question is for 5 years experience and appraisal will be applied on a pro rata basis. So, is the 8-9% hike justifiable?
Pro rata will be measured on the percentage so it will come around 4% only.

I just got a offer from one Indian Finance company for Pune location (I would have to relocate). They are giving 13.90 LPA, out of which 11 is fixed and 2.75 is performance pay. They have alternate Saturday working policy, WFO, strict office timings and lots of workload sometimes more than 9 hours of working.

What they have to offer is good appraisal cycle (> 10%), and a promotion in 18 months. 

Now my challenge is I joined a MNC X org in the second month of March with 12.55 LPA (10.5 is fixed and 1.26 is performance pay).

What they have to offer is Hybrid, chill environment, free lunch, good medical benefits, and WLB. What they don’t offer is good appraisal ( they have standard appraisal policy same for everyone around 4-7%) and promotion.

I’m confused on what to do!! 
I’m open to working on Saturday and with heavy workload, as the money is priority. But since I already joined company X and people here are so good. 

I’m looking for any suggestions or your personal experience. 

Note: I didn’t told to Indian finance company that I joined MNC X. And the profile is in Analytics one is BFSI and another one is HR.

I’m confused. Need help!!

I have been working for my current employer for over 2 years as PM. Most of the employees haven't received any formal appraisal over the years. The company is going through some of the financial stress till last Dec. But it seems things are getting back in order as no more salary delays at my level.

I have heard and confirmed that few have received salary hikes either due to retention or other ways.

Searching for a job over the past 1 year but unable to land any yet. Its getting difficult to manage financially living on rent in mumbai, committing everyday to office and all.
