Lately, walking in the garden and watching birds chirp in the morning has become an underrated thing that I find deep happiness in. 

Even late night walks are becoming interesting with an ice-cream at hand and the wind blowing in my hair.

I earn a decent living ~32LPA as a Software Engineer. I really enjoy my work and it is always a joy working with smart people around you. 

I sometimes wonder if I didn't exist would it matter in the world. At work, I come up with great ideas and insights which my peers appreciate and support, but there hasn't been one thing that they took seriously and moved ahead with. 

My peers around me constantly belittle me, some unprofessional jokes about my competence and intellect, even though I am actually good at what I do and more. 

The backhanded compliments and sarcastic replies in front of other people in my company makes me sad beyond belief. It is almost like I give so much of time to this company and although everyone cares about the work I do but no one cares about me. 

My colleagues constantly try to one-up themselves by bullying juniors and laughing in their glass-walled conference walls. 

Incidents like these make me want to give up on work. I think the mix of giving all of myself at work(intensity and long hours), constant berating on my competence and the time I spend away from my family and "real" friends(not these fake work colleagues) makes me depressed as fuck. 

I am now understanding that you can never be happy in life because you can never have all that you want. You will give up something for the other. You think making more money will make you happier but you will just end up losing your sanity.

Hang in there, friend. I can assure you that you can find happiness in the workplace. What you're experiencing is common but definitely not the norm. There are many places out there where people are decent and you wouldn't be treated so pathetically. I hope you find the opportunity to move out and cut yourself off from the vile people at your present employer.

Drop the one small thing that made you feel good today.

Often we look for “happiness” while we rush through life like there will be time later to pause and enjoy. Little moments should be cherished and enjoyed - makes the day to day more meaningful. 

Mine: 

1. 5 small red roses and 3 white roses in the balcony. Waking up to that felt good and makes me smile today.

2. 5 minutes in the balcony and the morning sun. therapeutic!

What made you smile today?

An important meeting cancelled. Woke up to the cancelled invitation on my email.

I look forward to the weekly badminton sessions with my friends for two hours on Sundays. The intensity, laughter, sweat and the following conversation in the juice shop. I hope our lives don't take this away from us.

For me, it's the unexpected connections and experiences that bring the most joy.

I'm from Satara, Maharashtra, and work at a small startup in Bengaluru. Back in 2022, during a solo trip to Madurai, I met a Japanese traveler in a restaurant. We only had 15 minutes to chat—mostly about food, as we both love exploring different cuisines. I casually invited her to visit my hometown.

Fast forward two years, we stayed in touch, discussing food over WhatsApp. She even opened an Indian restaurant in Japan last year! In September, she and her husband visited Satara during Ganesh festival, and I got the chance to show them the 'untold India'—our culture, traditions, people, and of course, food.

On the first day, my family was a bit hesitant to interact with them. But by the second day, thanks to Google Translate, my mom and they started connecting. My mom even taught her some authentic Maharashtrian dishes, and now she’s planning to add them to her restaurant's menu in Japan!

It was truly one of the happiest experiences of my life.

Could be anything. Your work, your workouts, friday night with the boys etc. 
If you've not taken notice of what you like doing, this might be a good way to, and also to hear from positive things that people are doing. 

For me, it's usually the weekly outing with work friends/other friends or just watching an amazing piece of content on the weekends. That's usually the peak. Excited to hear from all of you!

What do you look forward to every week? What makes you feel alive and happy?

I have generally seen this either in reel / film life or real life, where people who love what they do, tend to be -
1. Much more happier / satisfied everyday
2. They give way more of themselves into the task not because someone demands it, but because they want to, they enjoy it
3. They constantly improve and be better at this thing
4. They aren't in it for the money. They don't do things or learn more or put more hours because it's paying them, they do it because of the love for the thing. Money is just an add-on

Do you guys have anything like this in life which you enjoy doing so much and can do it without thinking about the money you'd get. This thing shouldn't be something you consume, but something you produce, even if it helps 1 person out, still counts!

Eg. You do coding, learn new things in it, not because it pays you, but because it's what you love doing. You'd probably still keep doing it even if it doesn't pay you anything

I am sorry my first post was supposed to be an achievement or CTC /salary  but  will surely come back one fine day with it too.
Anyways, I'm just trying to ask: what helps you? In your deepest, darkest of times, when nothing is working? Forget antidepressants for a second! Besides those medicines, what are some things that make you less depressed? 

The reason why I'm asking is that I am depressed. I was diagnosed by a professional.  Meds I don't like because they end up making me feel 
a) more depressed 
b) not at all myself; 
c) give me other terrible side effects 
Took therapy, antidepressants and what not for insomnia still don't have the right way to handle.

I just wanted new ideas, nevertheless, in hopes of finding something that may actually do something. If you ever have been in depression and insomniac please comment thereby creating a "safe space" Can't we ? For saving one life.
