When does a startup stop being a startup?
At what point is a company no longer called a startup? What factor decides this? Is it : • Valuation • Years active • No of users • No of employees • Culture? ( general lack of bureaucracy, etc ) Or is it something else? For each trait above, several exceptions come to mind.
1) when it goes public
2) when it stops raising funds for visible future
3) when it's business model and unit economics are stable and proven
4) when it's Financials are predictable for atleast a year
5) when corporate governance is atleast on the radar followed by tangible actions and failsafes
6) there is no one measure, it's like a person becoming mature mentally and emotionally, some get there fast, some get there late, some die trying
