Why is tennis not so popular?

Real estate is expensive. Equipment to play and maintenance of court in playing conditions is expensive.thays why cricket is famous, a bat and ball. Any number of people can play, play anywhere - on street, on terrace, single playground where 10 different teams will play at the same time. It all boils down to money. Every single thing in our country.

Tier-1 cities do have a decent number of tennis academies. But true, it has not expanded to tier-2,3 cities.

Hey the long and short of it is that tennis is extremely expensive. The cost to make and maintain a facility is high. My guess: It’s still one of the top 5 most popular sports in terms of viewership in India. But in terms of actual people playing would be 10th of so.
