If you had the chance to go back in time and change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I'll go first,
I would perhaps slap my past self and ask him to not study too hard for the JEE, take some time off and fetch more life experiences.
Hi all, I started playing/ learning tennis around 1.5 yrs back . what started as a hobby or means to stay fit has now turned into addiction sort of ( for the lack of better word ) . I keep thinking about playing well all the time. I become angry and irritated when I do not play well. it has started to affect me mentally . any tips on overcoming this
Try for olympics in it. Use that anger.
I play bullet chess. My ratings hover between 1600-1800 on chess.com. I go into hibernation once i hit 1800 only to come back a couple of months later till it goes down to 1600 and below. Sometimes you need to detox and not get too attached :)
Tennis is my addiction too. Sports are everything and don’t feel bad. Just play everyday. That’s what I do.
Pretty normal is what I thought . I always keep thinking about the goals I missed yesterday, what I could have done differently in a moment while playing football everyday. What's the problem
But doesn't thinking all the time affect your normal day to day work or your job ?
No man... I do not get super angry thinking about it or get super into it , it's just my favourite thing to think about when the mind is empty and not focused on a work thing etc .I don't know what exact reactions you're having that you can't even do your job .
I hope you’re hitting gym with equal enthusiasm. As a former tennis addict, the only thing that got me out was shoulder impingement, which is not a nice way to go out. Three years, still can’t do as good. 😔
How to get time for both of these?. I play almost 6 times a week . I do normal warmup and cooldown
assuming you play high intensity for at least an hour in each of those six days, I’d recommend at least two days of strength and core in the gym (skip playing days till you find your schedule, 100% help with longevity) + resistance training daily as part of warmup
It took me four years of nonstop playing to develop a sweet one-handed backhand, but now shoulder is so weak that I can’t do that anymore for long. Learning double-handed backhand seems like starting from scratch :/
