Work life balance - Tips

I work in a startup, have been since the past 4 years. Earlier it was WFH, I had the liberty to work whenever I want - task had to be done.

With experience, I've felt that my work life balance has gone for a toss. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I feel exhaused and burnt out. This is also sucking out ownership from what I do.

To all the GVs out here, have you guys tried doing something that's helped you? Or are we all on the same boat here? Are folks in MNCs going through the same? Genuinely seeking for help here.

I just feel ki, I should stop running behind money now. Take a pay cut if needed and join a company thats a bit more established.

Ps: In my case working from office seems like a total waste of time. I had been so much more productive at home.

Thanks!

Work-life balance? That's a myth, just like the Yeti. Burnout? It's a startup, not a spa. Work hard or find a government job.

True... 4 yrs is too long in startup. You should have quit a year ago. The only way to counter this is by changing jobs frequently.

Make some time for yourself in a day. It can be for gym, socialising or any other activity which u like. As I see, after WFH, people tried sitting behind laptop throughout the day, missing many other aspects of life.

With you on the same boat, for sure.

However, a couple of things may be tried:

  1. Talk to your boss with datapoints / facts on how you were more productive at home than office
  2. Everyone giving you work will be interested in you considering that task "THE MOST URGENT AND IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR LIFE". You can practice mindfulness to distance yourself from their unreasonable demands. (Small disagreements don't really result in any drastic issues)
  3. Be more empathetic towards your own self. If you are exhausted, mention that to people expecting you to "power through" and see what they have to say. If it makes sense to you, great, if not, actively start looking out. Because, honestly, that's the only thing that matters.
  4. Find some time to RE-EXPLORE shit you loved in the past. Could be movies, music, playing musical instrument, PS or other gaming console, poetry, dancing, painting, reading books or anything else. I feel you've forgotten what you used to do in your free time. Rediscover that, it should truly help you rejuvenate.

Stay strong friend.

Off-topic but why do we call ourselves GVs and not Viners (Whiners)? Wouldn't that be more suitable?
