Looks like they are trying to add more products to cover the entire career funnel. Makes sense to me.  Relevel was a complete scam looked like it was doing good at start and then fced up.

Their assessments were as faulty as it can be.

NextLevel has entered maintenance mode. Friends working on it have kind of confirmed. 

Idk why they even started this product. There was zero need for it, but management just HAD to have their way. 

Everyone working on NextLevel has basically given up at this point. We're in maintenance mode, just waiting for the official announcement. The product roadmap was a joke from day one. Instead of focusing on something actually useful, they kept adding random bells and whistles. Oh, let's make it like Gas app with polling! Let's throw in some Inshorts-style news! 🙄

Here's a pro tip: copying features from 3 different products doesn't magically create one great product. It's like they threw spaghetti at the wall and hoped something would stick.

This is a lesson for anyone trying to build in the consumer space. You can pour all the resources you want into something, but if your thinking is fundamentally flawed, you're just burning the money.

Management needs to actually listen to people who know what they're talking about. But nah, they'd rather chase their pet projects and ego trips.

Things not great at Unacademy's NextLevel

Unacademy has just laid off the entire team of NextLevel and will be shutting the business. 

It is interesting to note that Relevel underwent a major pivot after failure and was rebranded to NextLevel. Gaurav apparently blindly wrote how this product will take on LinkedIn and make CV's redundant. 

Guess another unacademy experiment has failed but several employees are facing the brunt of the CEO's immature experimental nature.

Rumours are floating that Unacademy is getting sold by one of its main investors to another Edtech company in their portfolio for just 400 Million dollars, their last round valuation was 3.5 Billion dollars 

But founder Gaurav Munjal said they have 200 Million in bank. Getting confused - Is this a repeat of Byju 2.0?

They have fired the CTO and co-founder Hemesh Singh and Roman Saini ( other co-founder) is also not seen anywhere 

I am worried if more people are to be laid off?

But I'm genuinely curious as to what grapers/ grapies / viners find to be not a scam in edtech ?

If you are in the product management domain,u must have seen people post their product teardowns on linkedin,such as "ordering food on zomato", "playing a song on spotify" or writing a review on myntra etc.

These just seem plainass dumb to me and involve zero thinking and seems to be just ppt making exercises.I get it if you are exploring a new product or not one used before,but making teardowns on such common products??Do these even help in any way??

I get it that trying and testing a product is the first step to understand any problems in it but what is the need to make a ppt out of *just trying it*,that is like a 10 15 minute work for most of the consumer facing products.

Is there any sound to this madness or do you agree with me?
