People in a long distance relationship, what are things one can do to make it better?

Painting together at your respective places and showing them to your partner over the screen mid way to see their cute faces (his/her)

1. Be connected. Not necessary that it should be video, but at-least take out 15-30 mins time from your daily schedule to speak with each other every day and share what happened during the day(can be interesting or maybe not). 2. Don’t over communicate(have constant chatting via messaging). 3. During the weekend, definitely have video calls(30 mins to an hour), show each other what you are doing - can be anything - cooking, sports, movies, series, painting, etc. 4. Trust each other. Try to meet at-least one every 6 months(if in India), or every year if residing outside India. 5. Send gifts on occasions(doesn’t need to be chocolates or flowers). Can be something interesting which the other person likes(part of their hobbies). I used to be in a long distance relationship 11 years back, and used to do all the things mentioned above. I was working in the Middle East back then. There was a time difference of 2 hours. Our courtship went for 3 years post which we got married and have a 2.5 year kid now. All the best!

You can also eat together on zoom calls

zyada time waste mat karo, just get married, otherwise failure chances are above 90% If you don't, one of you will lose feeling eventually and won't even let the other person know and 3 or 4 people will be happy instead of 2. been there....

Keep communication as honest and straightforward as possible, not even ounce of overthinking or insecurity. It is easy to assume a lot of things when someone is far, out of sight. Speak your mind, what you thought and why you thought. Obviously goes both ways. Also, assuming you are a man, please don't think twice before double texting. It is ego for some, but very cute on other end. 🙌

Participate in hackathon together

In my experience, long distance is pretty tough, especially given that there’s nothing substantial/physical. Try to supplement your relationship by experiences. Like you said, watching movie together/ reading books and talking about. Make sure there is a way to express one’s feelings when the other isn’t available. Like enabling voice mail, sending video messages, toys, recording reaction videos when you know your partner is doing something for you. And also a way to show frustrations/anger and acknowledging that. Otherwise you wouldn’t even know whats eating the other person. Again, all of this might not be the case for everyone

Send snaps on instagram or snapchat to each other throughout the day, it keep it fun, you guys keep seeing each other throughout the day and not just during video calls

Break up. Long distance is just not worth it. Extremely small percentage actually make it through, and many of them end up divorced after getting married regardless. Don't waste your best years for someone miles away. Speaking from experience (3 long distance relationships).
