What will be the future of a data engineer after these much recession/layoffs or arrival of AI

I just went to LinkedIn and looked for Data Analyst and Data engineer roles, browsed some job posts in Bengaluru and some others. There are very few roles available and a lot of applicants for each job, forget entry level, there's very few posts for specific roles. Same case with Indeed and others as well. I don't know when the situation will improve for this field

after reading the comments I am more confused coz I’m very stubborned with one decision that SDE is not the work I want to do , I really wanna get in ML based jobs like Data Science or AI Engineer or Data Analyst… I know market is not good for data Engineers now but I wanna settle in Other foreign countries for my livelihood and so wanna get in to this field but then a question arises , should I do my masters or work in a company for 1-2 years to gain experience and then search for foreign companies, can someone help me really need one

Is data engineer a good carrier to opt for considering the salary, growth and future prospects?

I remember during tech boom, almost every one was jumping jobs every 6months. I am at mid senior level in my company and some of us who did not hopped jobs where consider failure. We had very hard time retaining people around. Now been more than a year and no one is resigning. Wonder will developers learn if another cycle of boom comes in.

I spoke to an experienced guy in the IT sector who has worked in many FinTech firms and consulting companies. He said when the data science hype started several years back, companies started getting funds from venture capitalists to set up data science wings . Companies went on a hiring spree with this money to hire data science professionals. However, as the years passed, these data science departments failed to generate revenue as expected. Also, some aspects of data science will very likely be automated. Are software engineers no longer in high demand? Today, while scrolling through LinkedIn, I noticed a lack of job postings for SDE-1 roles. However, there appears to be a demand for other positions, such as Frontend Engineers and Analysts. Is this the right time to consider shifting to fields like Frontend Engineering or Analyst roles? What are your thoughts on this?
