How common it is to decline an accepted offer? What are the repurcsuions attached to it? Have you guys ever done it? How should I communicate to the company? What should I write in email?

Was going through Salary breakdown for Product Managers at various YoE of multiple companies at Grapevine’s own salary database, and also at 6figr. And OMFG the disparity between compensation for same band varies so much, even if the YoE for 2 employees are same. I also saw multiple instances where a person with lower YoE was commanding a significantly higher salary for someone in the same role and band with higher YoE. I can’t understand, but why is this the case?? Even the govt has defined pay structure and compensation basis YoE for their employees. Then why can’t the same be followed here in private companies in India. One might argue that YoE might not be the best way to get parity, but how come there is so much gap between wades of 2 PMs in the same company.

I have been managing teams for multiple organisations for quite a few years. It saddens me to see most of the organisations trying to exploit employees by paying inadequate compensation. Gender pay gap exists for real. I want to file a PIL and maybe get a law passed to ensure all employees are paid fairly. Can someone help me get in touch with a good lawyer who can help me file a PIL?

In India, can we discuss our salary, compensation plan with our colleague? Is there any generic policy for the same in India location?

In India, it's the norm where candidate has to show all his cards (past 3 salary slips or increment letter etc) to prospect employer which sets the benchmark. However, the candidate usually has no idea abt the pay range for the JD, the KRAs, team strength, budget, and the monetary value he is expected to bring to the firm. Most firms also put 90day notice period which makes it difficult to change jobs. How do you folks try to negotiate pay? What %hike over current is a starting point? If no other offer is in hand, but the firm is strong arming you to a less pay, how have you/would you negotiated in such scenario?
