Protein intake for vegetarians
Hi folks, how does one complete their daily protein intake? I have heard plant based protein like the ones coming from dal are not effective enough for muscle building. Thoughts and recommendations from experience?
I’m keen to start with my fitness journey. Currently I cycle, on weekends I do around 50km. On weekdays I walk/ jog for 9-10 km.
Hi there,
Daily protein around 150-165gram.
100gm soya chunks
1.5 scoop whey protein
100gm besan ( onion cheela )
50gm High protein oats
80gm paneer
Rest from normal home food.
Been training for like 2.25 years now
Apart from whey protein i just take creatine and rarely pre workout ( like 1-2 times in 20 days )
Which one is best whey protein.
How do you keep track it's very difficult to follow.
I think I'm taking less than 60gm per day
Buddy there is nothing as such best whey protein. Just make sure its tested by authorities regularly. I have used the following brands ( Nutrabay, Muscleblaze, MyProtein, Asitis ).
If you have a good budget then just go for Muscleblaze biozyme whey. If you are on less on budget then you can try Asitis Concentrate whey.
I am using healthyfyme ( free version ) to track my intake for past 2 years and i am satisfied with it.
There is no such thing as a vegan body builder. Nothing can substitute a good chicken leg in terms of protein.
You can use protein powder ofc, but that shit is not a substitute for real protein.
I heard chicken breast has the most protein content.
It does. By far the most protein is in chicken compared to anything organic or synthetic in the market.
Even vegetarians turn to it because they have to. No one likes stuffing too many eggs or powder shakes everyday.
There are protein bars available as well, but they are snacks at best and can't substitute a proper meal.

Any other option for protein for vegetarians apart from paneer.
There are many,
Avocados, broccoli, beans, lentils, quinoa (millets are good), almonds, soy are some good options. Even leafy vegetables like spinach, Palak also have reasonably good protein.
Try soya chunks, whey unflavored protein from whole truth
I eat lots of soya (chat, subzi), broccoli, daal, besan and paneer. I am currently trying Amul Protein, as of now feels good.
It’s been almost 5 yrs - 2 yrs of covid
No supplements, consume black coffee as pre-workout.
I do gym on weekdays with 1 day break and cycling on weekends. Keeps my lifting, cardio balanced.
