Avoiding people who feed on other’s credit

I am fed up with people who try to steal other people’s credit. Be it your manager, your colleague or anyone how do you avoid them from taking your credit for the work you have done. Worst part is seeing them try hard to showcase it as their own. What do you all suggest for such situations?

Always be in touch with +1 and +2 managers, they also love this, being in touch with on ground people, keep them in cc in critical emails

This doesn't work most of the times. Director level doesn't have time for developers. They will always listen for managers.

Need to catch them when they are free or in good mood, They also want to talk, yes they are busy, just start with a smile first, later with small talk

Please elaborate it using a situational example , That way it will be easy & more effective for others to provide their insights

Let’s suppose you do a POC on your individual level which is solving a greater problem for your org. But your manager chooses to present that POC as his innovation to the founders.

This is just a small example. There are numerous instances faced by many of us I believe.

If I have discussed a poc with my manager and provided him with my insights/ideas/plan , I have send him a mail immediately after the discussion briefing the discussion points that way it will serve as proof of evidence which you can use to challenge your boss 's claim

Same thing is happening with me. I designed whole architecture as sde3 and did the development of one of the project. But my manager only listens to sde4 not me. Sde4 comes online 2 times a day and ask for update and goes offline for whole day. He is not even helping me in the project. I am doing all the work and credit is going to sde4. When I asked to my manager he told me he is the captain of team if everything goes well he will collect trophy and if not he will take the blame. But we all knows blame will come on lower levels itself.

Keep some small issues hidden inside, make sure you can identify them easily and solve them, closer to deadline ask SDE4 for help, let him also work on something, does your manager never ask for any updates?

He asks from sde4 directly not from me. 🥲 I am not into visibility anywhere.
