Living away from home

Question to bachelors working in a remote job from a metro like Bangalore, Delhi or Mumbai and not living with parents. How do you deal with not having people around you ? Does it get lonely sometime ? How do you manage your day and schedule around work in general ? Context :- I've got a job offer from an Indonesia based startup and they don't have an office in India. I've never worked a remote job, except COVID and I don't know if I should work from the metro or go back home? Benefits of Metro : You get to be around people who work similar jobs. Benefits of home : You save money and life is a little peaceful there.

Does this bother you that you will not meet your parents enough? Let's say your parents are around 55 years old and will live till 80. If we consider you will go to your months 4 times in a year and let's say each time you are going for 10 days, which means 40 days in a year and 1000 days in total. Less than 3 years and. I am not even considering that when you visit them, you will still have work as mostly you will take wfh and not leave. Does this fact bother you that you will not be able to spend much time with them?

I was in a remote job from 2020, until last year where I was laid off in November. Then when I started searching for new companies my priority was to work on site, but again I got a remote job. My problem is living in the house 24*7 make it dull after sometimes and you forgot the line between personal life and work life. All I did was waking up in the bed and then opening laptop and vice versa in the night. Plus you don't have social interaction. Now I have become an introvert living in my own room and it takes enormous energy to go out and meet people. Is remote job really worth it wasting my 20's sitting in the home ? How are you folks coping up with this thing?

21M working from home as a SDE. I do live with my parents in a tier 3 city. Most of my time is just spent working on my desk. This is just depressing as I don't have many friends to hangout and even those I have are busy in their own life. I make good and can easily afford to go and live in a tier 1 city but will that be a good option leaving my parents and knowing most of my time would be spent indoors. What would you do if you were in my shoes.

Hi folks, a genuine ask to folks specifically in Bombay who are working for approx 10 hrs and that too from office and also the traveling to home in local, metro. How are you guys managing this exhaustion and also preparing for your next job/career. Folks who live away from their parents, how do you take care of them? I recently shifted to Blr, parents live in NCR - In college I was a day scholar and also I don't have any siblings. Taking care not in terms of monetary help, but rather physical and emotional help - like being present there when they need me.

I have been on a permanent wfh role since covid. Yes, been 2+ years since I stepped into an office. I stay alone and have little expenses but also 0 social life. Friends are all spread out. Not on any dating app because its exhausting. Can someone just talk about any impacts on their personal life from work life? Does anyone here feel a void too? I’d love to connect.

After working remotely as an Intern, I cracked a SDE role and moved to this new city. I feel homesickness now. I feel like running away from every single thing here. Everything reminds me of my family. I don't have much work experience but I'm trying to continue to work here and looking to crack another role in SDE but remote. This way I can stay with my family as well. I don't know, I feel lost. This city is costly and spending so much in the initial month just to settle down was overwhelming and traumatizing.

I am doing work from home from last 2 year and it's pretty good but my entire friend circle has moved to their office location delhi, blr aur Bombay and my college friends also got split into different cities Sure, we catch up during occasional visits or hometown hangouts and trips, but most days, it's just me, myself, and my laptop. I've tried moving to Bangalore and stayed couple of months, but traffic take lot of time to just meet friends and people are mostly into over work and then just drinking and smoking and don't want to talk about flats, transport and other problem so whoever doing work from home from their hometown, how do you deal with this my hometown is tier 3 city and routine is kind of wake up, coding, gym, movies or anime or leetcode and sleep

I'm a final year student at a tier-1 engineering college. I am looking to break into product management and have been looking for internships and full time opportunities for the last 5 months. I've had no luck so far, and my campus placements are not up to the mark this year so no luck there as well. I've done all the essentials for preparing for this role, like preparing for interviews, participating in product teardowns, working on a portfolio etc. I initially planned to work for a few years and do an MBA in the US but I'm seriously contemplating going for a master's degree now (maybe MiM in EU or some MS in software applications in the US). Looking for advice on what should be my next steps. PS: I'm not looking to do an MBA in India. If I go for a master's degree, I want to do it abroad.
