Leave policy at startups

I am interviewing with an early stage startup in Gurgaon. As part of their leave policy, they offer only annual leaves which you earn at a certain rate every month. They do not offer any sick leaves or casual leaves to employees. Is that even legal? Have you heard of similar policies elsewhere?

As a startup owner, the government only mandates us to give around 22 days off per year. All the other leaves are strictly upto the company. The 22 days off are official holidays.

I remember working in a small startup (<30 emps) that had a leave policy, but rarely enforced. You could just take a sick/casual leave as your desire, by telling your manager.. Might sound good, but since 'your leaves' were not tracked, i.e. how much you have available, it just meant people took less of them so...

If annual leaves account for sick leaves count in other places then should be beneficial for u. If not, it’s not illegal. On earning at certain rate… I think this is practiced in startups.

Sick leave encashment?

Does your company allow sick leave encashment? I'm a fresher working at a startup. I have too many sick leaves but don't have paid time off. Some people at the company said that you can't encash sick leaves. I feel cheated. I mean I could have used these sick leaves instead of paid time off ones 🥲

How many leaves do you get?

In my company we have 1 leave per month. Basically after working all January a leave will be credited in February just like our salary and we get 12 leaves per month only (PTOs). What is your leave structure. PS Can't share the company's name because there are only 6 employees.
