The Indian dielemma
The problem with Indian founders is they wan to be paid good but they don’t want to pay good. This guy runs an “AI powered” startup where he matches international clients with Indian freelancers. Also, he sells this idea to Indian freelancers by calling it a high paying international remote job. Dude lives in SF. Is this what entrepreneurship has reduced down to???

I know a guy running the same setup but no AI powered shit. Just coders pre selected for startups. Pays well and earns well.
Arre this guy also connects coders with startups, but screens them manually and on his website calls it AI “powered recruiting”. Lives in SF. Provides workshops to new entrepreneurs there.

That's why he's stingy with pay most likely. Because he lives in SF, higher living costs.
The guy i know used to work in USA but is settled in India now.

This is standard negotiation tactic. You should always seek the budget and not state yours. Walk away politely if you are not in the same zip code. Negotiate if you are in the range and like the project (eg offer tiered pricing - for first x hours and then your mkt rate)
Problem with Indian employers is this only, they will never tell their budget and judge you basis your current compensation.

Indian entrepreneurs needs to seen from context. There was not promotion to entrepreneurship till 2000's. Untill the 1990, for a decent employment wee depended on the government, So a full half century people grew up in a scarcity mode. We could not afford failure, so people always went into an existing/proven business Which was always trading. you get into a business where you are the middle man between the buyer and seller or you enter a business where you have some sort of insider help (like a government contract/ business where you need a license. ). This is changing now. But we still do have the same mindset.
Probably another 15 years, failure will not be a punishment like now. Then things will improve.
