Not because of lawsuits but because they were ineffectual. DEI heads expected to get budgets from the company without any fight or justification and when they didn’t, they complained to the media or did nothing. (At senior level you have to fight for the budget for your department.). Many could not effect any change cos they never played the corporate game, didn’t understand the workings, and expected the jobs to be easy. When it was abundance, companies kept them for pr value. In austerity, they just let them go. You always need to have skills and brinkmanship to effect change. That’s learned while being under someone like that in those jobs.
Lawsuits will still come. That’s not to do with DEI heads and specific positions. But a broader policy. Same is gonna happen with ethics and safety teams in due time.
