Career switch?

I am in IT. Coding n all that. But i think I’m meant for something else. I’m more of a artistic person than logical(i guess). I prefer fixed rule/law based work than spontaneity (except in humor. I'm humorous ).

I won’t be leaving IT anytime soon, but i need suggestions on what suits me. Guys tell me no🙏🏼

IT / coding/ tech is a very vast landscape. Since you've not mentioned what exactly is it that you do and how many years of experience you've it's a bit difficult to give any specific suggestion. Also there never is a "one size fits all" kind of answer to such questions.

Having said that... the prevailing wisdom on internet and every other pop culture reference suggests to follow your passion and indeed there is no harm in giving a fair chance to your artistic side (especially if you're a bit young in your career). A few generic suggestions may include content writing, UI/Ux developer etc but that really depends on your personal interests. Also considering that you're not very fond of your job, it may become bit difficult to be able to plan a long term career in Tech since it is becoming increasingly competitive each passing day.

On the flip side, you can't deny the hard fact that Tech jobs pay well and passion usually is bit lagging in that race (at least for the initial few years). So please look at things from that angle as well and assess your risk profile thoroughly.

Maybe you can take a balanced approach and try to work in companies/projects which aren't that demanding so that you can work on your personal projects and groom your skills. You can consider shifting gradually to profiles like DataAnalyst, BusinessAnalyst etc (Basically sql side of things). Once you've enough confidence and visibility on your artistic career's trajectory maybe then you can go for an actual career switch.

PS : a small word of caution though... people in Tech are working relentlessly to automate anything and everything that is even remotely "rule based" 🙂.
