Resigned w/o offer(AMA)
I am currently working as a senior engineer at a startup (yoe 6+). Initially things were good , but from the last few months The workplace turned toxic and all the nasty things started happening around me. The burn out was deteriorating mental and physical health, so i lost my patience and resigned. Making this ama , so that I can help someone who is going through the same situation.

Similar situation. How do you deal with the notice period? How do you be productive during that time when one is mentally checked out?
I had clearly put out a clause in my resignation that either terminate my employment and give 2 months of severance or bear with me contributing 3 hours max daily.
So they agreed on later clause and now I don't give a fuck on my work. I simply say i don't know and assign any given tasks back to them .
Yes , of course I had night mares..
I have a home loan running too.
But the personal humiliation hit me the hardest. So i thought whats the point in working where they don't treat you as human and instead treat like a machine.
I was loosing my precious time which I could have spent with my family,
Unrealistic deadlines made me so frustrated , and anxious at times and started experiencing some health issues.
So,I thought it's now or never.

How many months of runway do you have?
I suppose you have to name the company if you really have to help the community here!
It's anonymous anyways

I guess it's never a problem if you have got the right reasons
i did the same some 6 months back as i had a toxic manager. it improved my mental and physical heath . it gives lot of free time to prepare for interviews and also got to learn a lot. wish you good luck
Were you distracted during your preparation? How long did it take to end a new job?
Bro, massive fucking props to you. I respect this. Don’t take shit in life. Always keep yourself ahead. Keep your head up king, your crown is falling.
any reason for sudden toxicity? was there change in management or some projects went downhill?
The product had no market fit and the investors blasted them in one of their review meetings so the founders eventually fired old folks and added.new folks.
And since I was hired by old folks , the newer ones wanted their yes men to be on the team and not me and they started targeting me so that I leave.
Good for you OP! Working in toxic places is not worth it. There’s no shortage of good jobs out there! Most senior leaders today are very toxic, and don’t care about you. You have to prioritise your mental health and goals. For anyone reading this, here’s an inspiring story - My mentee got laid off in Jan, and joined another firm with 2x salary + designation bump + a more nurturing team in 2 weeks.
Great to hear this. I hope more people see these kinds of outcomes.

How long can you sustain without a job?
How much emergency fund do you have?
I admire your guts to be able to do this.

I am also dealing with something similar. Not sure what classifies the workplace as toxic. But definitely feel burnt out mentally and physically.
I am not able to gather guts to quit though, too much esops at stake.
