What are your thoughts about being DINKS?

We are a DINK couple (live-in, will get married soon) and absolutely no plans to have kids. Maybe be a DINKWAD someday by adopting an indie. Also no plans to buy a home or spend on our marriage. This is not a financial decision (both of us are doing decently well in our careers) but we don't want to have a child knowing how nothing around is improving and we don't want to sacrifice the best years of our lives by doing this. We are building a large corpus to be financially independent and travel without any financial restrictions.

1) End of family bloodline. 2) It looks and feels cool in 30s but will have massive regrets in 40s and 50s. 3) have such couple in my distant who were early with the concept in 90s and have massive regrets today when they are in their early 50s. They are Sad, we feel sad looking at them but they made the decision and will have to live with it forever. Too late to adopt as well

Nightmare for the world. If its the urban intellectually bit off population decide to not have kids. A famous British video on this exists. See a lot of people CF lately.

What is wrong with not having kids? Of course deep inside, majority of us don't appreciate our parenting. Our parents had us because they felt lonely, they didn't have the balls to achieve their dreams, they thought the only way to keep their dreams alive is to give birth to us and pass on their dream to us, and the fact that giving birth to children is the only affordable way to immortality in a genetic sense. Remember kids, majority of parents give birth to their children out of desperation to fulfill their agenda, biological or otherwise. If we weren't born, we wouldn't have to deal with all this bullshit of eating, drinking, shitting, pissing and fucking. Not being born>Being born as a dog in Ambani's house>being born as a human in Ambani's home

We flipped. I’m 40 and my wife is 37 - we decided to have a baby this year. We are now pregnant with twins :) There is no logic. Totally a change of heart. We lived our life and never planned to have kids but just felt empty last couple of years - everytime we see a baby in stroller or in the part we would stop and talk to the baby. I had big beard last year and the baby cried after looking at me. My wife blamed it on my beard and made me shave :-/ just sharing level of infatuation she developed for babies all of a sudden. I flipped after her because she was so happy. It was a ow transition and we kept denying it till the day we couldnt. Perhaps we ok financially and not as busy now as we were last 15 years (married 13 years) So we know we are going to be older parents -luckily both of us are fit (no kids so far = gym 5 days a week). We are absolutely excited and cant wait for babies. Btw I forgot to mention - twins - 1 girl and 1 boy 🤩 My learning; there is no logic. Could have been more planned. Could have been just 1 baby. Think we got lucky. Could have been no kids ever - our change of heart was so fickle. Doesnt matter what you decide - just make sure you are actually (not intellectually) excited with whatever life choices you make.

A father here. I absolutely adore my kid and will do anything for him. But at the same time, parenting is a full-time job with a shit load of responsibility. Nothing can prepare you for the stuff that you have to deal with once you’re parent. If you are willing to do it and bring a kid in this world, then by all means, go do it. Parenting may be the hardest, but is also one of the most fulfilling jobs out there. I am exhausted after running around my 2 year old, but nothing compares to the hugs ai get from him. If you do not want kids, for any reason, that is purely your call. And that is okay as well. It’s your life, your time, your income. You decide if you wish to spend it all on yourself or also on your kid. The buck stops with you. Oh and also, if you DINK folk do get a pet, please don’t call yourself ‘pet parents’. That’s pure cringe. That’s all.

If you hate kids or don't want to spend money on kids, go ahead and become dink. Nothing against you. But please stop claiming that you are doing it for the "environment", "to reduce burden on society" and other bullshit. Because your aren't doing that. And even worse are the people who say " we don't want to bring child into THIS world". Wtf are you talking? We are in the most peaceful and prosperous century in the history of human kind. No landlords to whip you for not ploughing the field, no world wars to send your children as canon fodder, no 1/3 of village dying to unknown disease. Prosperity everywhere. You not being able to buy a 1.5 crore flat in a city isn't the end of the world. Most of the DINK I come across are rich by society standards.

These DINKS are common mostly in Tier 1 / metro cities. And this is mostly limited to Hindus and to some extent Christians. DINK phenomenon doesn't exist amongst Muslims. It is ok to remain as a DINK till late 30s, but people will regret later...marriage in Indian / Hindu terminology is Dampathya which is procreation...if people want to remain DINK please do not get married just live in as couple..

DINK in 30s and a lifetime of regret from 40s. Raising a child takes immense effort and most folks are unwilling to take it up.

DINKs need to think what would have happened if any one of their ancestors were DINK. 😉 Ancestors ate half meals, stayed hungry, worked overtime, jumped in front of a tiger when there was no other way, so that their kids lived. Kids now don't want to fulfill the expectations because they are too afraid to take responsibility. 🤷‍♂️ You want to enjoy your life to the fullest, well guess what, its not just your life, many many people have contributed to it and most of them are not around to tell you what hell they had to ho through.

Wouldn't it be better to adopt a kid instead. You are helping by taking care of an unfortunate kid. You are not being entirely selfish and also have family in later life.

IMO, bad parenting is way worse than the risk of ending the bloodline. (Many here seem to think they are aristocrats and bloodline matters - well, it doesn't.) So think of having kids only if 1. you're 200% sure of your parenting style, 2. You're financially equipped to fight the ever expensive world . 3. Give up on your own little aspirations for the sake of your children 4. Very important - be equally responsible as a parent (mother and father will have to share the load equally). 5. You're ready to face it if the kid turns out to be a total dud. 🤪

Do want you want in life! Don’t seek approval or justification from non Dinks(Dinkswad). Go on with your life. You are different you will be known to be different!

Make money have fun and chill tf out. Have kids when you’re ready. Not when you’re not.

don't waste time analyzing this. wanting or not wanting kids is a feeling. either way there are consequences and a price to pay. you can't model if you can live with those consequences up front. you just have to commit to a path and hope you can cope. the worst thing to do here is to pick one option and then switch at the last minute. having a kid when you're older is no joke. discovering that you don't have the patience, kindness, drive and discipline to be a good parent after having a kid is equally stupid. it's ok to deal with the consequences of your own decisions. it's not ok to land them on your kid. it's why most of us are so messed up. don't propagate the cycle.

I would love to not have kids if possible, gf holds the same opinion, but some part of me wants to take the bloodline further so idk. I'm ok with either at the moment.
