Is a toxic workplace becoming a common thing??
Recently whenever I come across any post on GV asking about the culture of a particular company people generally point out it to be toxic... Even in big companies like Swiggy, Upstox etc. Are there even any good product companies in India with decent TC + WLB + Culture??

Nope. That's because of the negative bias and clickability of negative news.
From what I understand toxic non toxic is much more dependent upon your boss than company culture. So in same company, some people might feel content working under a better boss while others complain of toxic work culture.

By that logic if your colleagues are founders and they are toxic, so won't the culture be toxic?

Not really, good workplaces don’t usually get highlighted often, hence the bias.

Too many startups. Earlier people started business their focus was on profitability. Now it's fund rise.
Nobody cares about fundamentals. Raising funds is now the most profitable business. And when you know the startup is not going to be around for long, the focus is always on metrics that help in fund raising.
So all the anger, stress and irritation. Most startups founder many have a lot of money but they lack maturity.

I have found that generally every place has some level of toxic culture internally. The thing is it goes largely unnoticed in bigger corporations as people can shift the blame to the particular project or team or executives. It becomes more and more apparent the smaller the company gets.
