People who did Mtech. Was it worth it ?
Just want to know career prospects and how it helped in long term from career perspective.
I had a chance to do mTech, did not do it. I don’t believe the research scenario in India is that evolved, there is not much money as well. There may be exceptions.
Never regretted it.
Do MS abroad in a good institute rather than MTech, if feasible.

No
I did Mtech from BITS Pilani - WILP (Work integrated learning program) and I would say it was worth it because I am now eligible for the "tier-1 candidates only" roles.
I believe this was one of the major reasons why I got a good job (role+hike) within 10 days despite the current market.

MTech from anywhere other than IITs ( or other equivalent institutions) is absolutely useless. Might as well burn your money and ‘waste’ your time elsewhere.
CTC offered before masters: 3.6LPA in witch. CTC offered after masters: 18LPA in an average US MNC. Spent 4-5Lacs on masters (BITS). This was back in 2015. Current TC: 70. I'd say it was worth it.

if you want to switch your career or your current pay is very less compared to the average mtech iit package, then you should do it. ex. i was working in core for around 4.5 lpa, there were no growth opportunities so i prepared for Gate, got IIT, elected mostly coding related classes, done some good projects and placed with 23lpa. some of my friends did MS from US after graduation and earning way more then me so if you have money then prefer MS from a reputed foreign university.
How hectic is mtech course ? Are everyone placed and able to cope up with the course ? I saw a guy who did Mtech from iisc in 2020 and still isn't placed.

Not me but I know a bhaiya who lived in our hostel. ( Btech and Mtech lived in the same). He did not get a good job after btech but worked hard in Mtech, focused on coding skills and cracked a faang. Doing an Mtech bought him more time and helped him gain better knowledge about computer systems also.

Depends on who you ask. I think it was a very good decision on my part to do a MTech. I did it from Manipal in network engineering. Came from electronics background and it helped me navigate my way into software.
