Don't trust Glassdoor

So I received an offer from a company and Glassdoor reviews for that was around 4.3 which is too good to be true. I talked to some ex-employees of that company and they told me earlier it used to be around 1.7/1.8. The company gave money to Glassdoor to remove these reviews. I thought Glassdoor could be generally trusted, I guess there is some potential in this market

Also companies pay third parties to write reviews, check the reviews of winzo games over Glassdoor. Most helpful comments are very bad and the highest rated are rarely helpful.

Can companies delete and manipulate Glassdoor reviews?

I get a weekly digest of employee reviews for my company, and very often I've observed that the negative ones are deleted(clicking on the 'read more' section gets me to an error page).

Apart from this, slice is actively putting up fake ...
