Evaluation of Offer

Recd a product manager offer. Notice period will be 3 months after probation period. That means I'll get stuck and have absolutely no chance to switch to other companies. Context : Pays only 26 LPA fixed, 4 in var ; very lean team ; in Real Estate sector ; product will have limited number of users only. Need the money, need PM role to keep continue in CV. But I clearly know this company is low balled me bcoz of employment gap of 6 months.

What to do? 1. Accept it for now and resign in probation period (NP will be 1 month) OR 2. Reject now itself?

Even if I accept now and keep looking, will I not question from prospective employer about such short stint?

Please folks, help me here... 🙏

What's your work ex? As you're saying low ball offer. Is the company B&B?

@FunnyName as the saying goes, a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush. Get a job, figure out the rest later. 6 months of gap looks better compared to 9 months of gap. Besides, what are the chances that the next company won’t lowball you either?

My honest advice would be to join this company and figure out the exit strategies later when you don’t have to worry about making ends meet.

That was my only thought. Given the mkt, better to settle down atleast now. If I want to leave, I can do so anytime later even without any offer. For now, I'll get income regularly.

Any chance they might be open to changing the 3m notice period clause? Sounds onerous.

SnoozyWaffle

On requesting, they'll definitely not do it. To get them to change that, I should be willing to walk away.

90 days NP will bind you. I know because I have. Leaving this org will be a challenge but given your current situation, it’s better you take it. Better to have a job than none. Short stint can be explained.

I did a switch from my new org during probation. HRs doesn't see it as a red flag if you have a valid reason. So go for it as you can join in 1 month too

Ok boss. Noted and accepted. Thanks.

Do you have the financial resources to continue your search? If yes, your dilemma continues. If not, take it! Market is not the most amazing, too many fake postings without the intention to fill.

My great fear is 90 day notice period. When the mkt turns I'll be stuck here even when opportunity comes. Best option for me is to keep searching thru probation period as Notice period is 1 month.
