Has HR ever told anybody that they pay their colleague more even when you both are doing the same job just because the colleague holds an MBA?

Looking for genuine and non diplomatic answers since it will be anonymous. It is upto you to reveal the name of the company you resigned from. Lets discuss!!! I will go first - I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

By making salaries transparent you’ll end up signalling who gets paid for what skills, and how you can reach similar levels if you manage to put in hours/ up-skill yourself? This should reduce the number of employees who’ll be unhappy if they find someone else’s salary later on to be really high. Also, we will get rid of draconian law, which kind of stops employees from talking about salaries. Does any company in India have salary transparency as one of the their core agenda to attract talented folks?

I got scammed by one of the leading corporate giants of Bangalore! I’m from IIM Bangalore, I cracked an offer from Agnity.. placement round me itni life changing baatein ki thi board of management ne ki mujhe laga ab toh college se nikalke seedha life set hai! Ghar gadi sabke sapne dekh liye they, it’s been three months now and idhar data entry ke alawa kuch nahi kara rahe merese.. a few of my friends who got selected for other companies are facing the same! I don’t understand jab hume as subordinates hi use karna hai toh campus placements rakhne ka point hi kya hai?

why do people feel uncomfortable or bad about sharing salaries with peers of the same level? if you share it then only you will get to know how much you are getting paid comparatively and next time you ask what you deserve in appraisals. why are we not helping ourselves?

Guys, if asked about your ctc during an interview with a prospective employer- what do you usually do? What is the norm? Is it okay to refuse sharing that information? I usually respond with "I'm not comfortable" and noticed folks responding in a bipolar manner. Thoughts?

I believe it is extremely difficult to judge exact level of an individual during an interview. It is better to also use past salary as some indication of value to last company. Having said that, the company needs to get to the correct salary range depending on performance in first 6 months. Thoughts?

I'm been on the lookout for a new job and the first question recruiters ask is if I have an offer in hand and what's my expected CTC. The next time, i get asked from a recruiter if I have an offer in hand, I want to say yes. Is there a way for them to verify if there's an offer or not other than asking you to send a copy of it ?

How many folks here 100% refuse to share last salary and are adant that HR state their budget. How do you guys do it and also has it ever happened that you needed up losing a great opportunity coz of this???

Have been interviewing for roles and the HRs are low balling like crazy even though they most definitely have the money, talking about non-startups listed companies as well. Makes me think if offer shopping or editing a current offer with a higher number and then shopping is the only way to go

I was looking for my 2nd offer on top of an existing one & this HR, cross questioned me like why am I searching for another one and that it is not fair and all. I didn’t have much time so I simply rejected him saying it wont work between us because of his aggressive attitude and ended the phone call. Doesn’t HRs take multiple interviews simultaneously? So what exactly gives them right to ask us. Plus the only way to get a decent hike these days is to negotiate via multiple offers. Why be such prude in first place and create this culture by offering peanuts. How would you have handled this case?
