Looking for career advice

Engineering grad. Transitioned into marketing right out of college. ~2 years of experience. Started out on a shit pay, currently underpaid but getting good exposure and learning a lot. This was a conscious decision as I am focused on learning, growth and personal development. Feedback is, I have made massive professional progress in the last 1.5 years and the company too (at my request) is giving me more agency to explore and diversify my skill set. This means; mainly more responsibilities, a few operations related decisions & tasks and a few sales calls and client presentations. I work at a very small startup and I feel, despite having the opportunity to learn here, the environment or mostly the pay is too shit/low. I am already a star employee here and I feel it would be a good time to switch, to be amongst a group wherein I can get more challenges and opportunities. Of course, a higher pay would be wonderful as well. While, job switching is an option, I am also thinking about doing an MBA. I feel if I can build upon this momentum and get into a good college - it would negate years of grind that I would have to put (in the current scenario). I really would like you good people to analyse my situation and help me out, please. TIA.

So I left my job in Jan 2024 after 3.4 yoe. I wish to switch my profile to HR, and therefore, I wish to pursue an MBA degree. Now the problem starts: my family is pressuring me that if I'm unable to convert any good colleges, how will I justify my gap year so I should take up a job. I don't wish to take up a job since I want to focus entirely on CAT prep. They are also pressurising me that if I'm unable to convert, then I will have to start from scratch in HR with a low salary and they wish to see me married within next 2-3 years so why would a nice guy marry a girl who is earning 25k-30k a month. So I'm really stressed out. What should I do? Take up a job and then prepare for entrance, or ignore them and just focus on prep, like what's the solution? Everyone is talking about the problem, what's the solution?

Hi! I’m in a huge dilemma and looking out for any advice I can get. I currently have 1.5 years of work ex and want to pursue MBA. Im confused if I should complete 2 years of work ex and then quit to do full time mba prep or quit right away to do prep. My quant is weak so I will need a lot of practice to crack CAT. 2 year criteria comes in so that I can keep options like ISB open as it requires a minimum of 2 year work ex. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Hi Guys , I am currently looking to start my online MBA from manipal. I need advice on the same whether it helps in my career or not .( The ultimate goal is to either start my business in 5 years or go abroad and work in a MNC). I am 23. But job is not ment for me tbh 😔. Have a business background but it's not stable that's why joined corporate for get some money for ok life. Hi, I am currently 22, graduated recently from a tier 2 institute and currently working at a US based startup earning 18lpa ( almost all base ) + rsu's, lately my family have been nagging me to do a postgrad, I am confused weather I should do an MBA, MS or not do a postgrad at all considering the years I will miss in workex. What should be my best course of action considering ROI in the next 10-15 years ?? P.S. Currently I am not sure what my interest lies in, but just try to excel at whatever comes my way.

Doston, I'm a 26 year old, run-of-the-mill MBA grad who has just been coasting through life until a very recent and intense encounter with the perils of modern life. Background brief: Academics : 8/5/8; MBA from NMIMS Mumbai ~2yrs of work ex in sales; have worked in financial sales, currently working in non-alco bev sales I have very few hard skills and am not sure where to start. Still, I'm seduced by other lucrative jobs/profiles such as finance, PM, consulting, which feel inaccessible at this point. I've accepted that there's nothing I can do to change the past, but I'm seeking guidance on how to shape my career from this point forward. Looking forward to any advice about jobs, career planning, and even life. Thank you!

I am deeply worried, to the extent of feeling depressed, about my career trajectory. I feel I made a mistake by switching tracks via doing an MBA with 10 yrs exp. I was a QA for a decade and tried a lot to break into PO roles( worked in a product based org on mobile apps for 6 years). It did not work and the director of PM advised me to do the one year fulltime MBA. Not sure why I gave in to his advice, but I gave GMAT and began with an 18 month Full time program at a Tier-1 Bschool. Cracked placement in the first go but got into IT services( not in WITCH), and now I am stuck being a PMO for a client. Even when I look at my resume, I see a crappy profile, everything is disjointed and makes no sense now. No wonder I get no calls. I don't want to go back to QA, this Project Management work is shitty( cannot see any learning happening, but the client is happy so I'm stuck in this project. ) I want to move to PM, thinking maybe CSPM can help, not sure where I am headed. Any guidance for this middle aged dinosaur 😞

hi everyone i am soft engg currently having 1.5 exp earning around (20 -25) as fixed comp . I hv started to feel my current job monotonous and boring even though i am working at a good org and have lots of new work to do in tech but it doesnt excite me anymore as it was doing earlier . i hv recently started looking in startup building journies and prospects of mba and i do know that consultants life is hectic but i am willing to do that as i am still in 20s . Can you guy please suggest your thoughts about it ? or if u hv any experience in it or if you were also in the same boat but decide to continue in dev if yes why ?

I need some advice. 1. I am a fresher and am considering giving the CAT exam this year. 2. Currently working as a data science intern and frankly, not enjoying it a bit. I dread debugging. I also feel everyday that AI can easily do 75% of my work. 3. I want some business side roles, thinking I won't have to stare at a screen all day, fixing bugs. What roles can I expect after doing a MBA, is it worth the extra 2 years and the money, and if you are someone who can relate to my situation, what are some of the things you enjoy about your work and some things which you absolutely hate. I might have completely wrong expectations, so please feel free to correct me.

It's been sooooo long since I have been searching for jobs did gave interviews but somehow got rejected after 2nd round. I am literally loosing all hopes, motivation and confidence and no excitement is left.
