Laptop for personal projects.

Hi All, Looking to buy a laptop to dive deep into full stack development - java, spring, queue, cache, db etc, along with light react js. Will set up distributed components in local and/ or free tier AWS as well. Also, consume Netflix content over weekends. Considering laptops with 16gb ram, 512 SSD - 1. Mac mini 1.3 lacs or 2. Dell/HP/MSI with Linux- 1 -1.2 lac or 3. Mac Book Pro M2 - 2 lacs/2.5 lacs With office mac Book Pro, the experience has been super smooth, but I am looking to get the most value on investment , and do not want to compromise on dev productivity. Any suggestions folks? Those who have done similar work and have had a smooth experience, please share your experience. Thanks.

Get the MacBook Air m2. it's more than enough for development. I am using it and am more than satisfied. Unless you are doing some 3d render or 4k export for 1 hour pro isn't required.

Went to see the laptops today in stores. Here are my findings - 1. Able to get 14inch mac Book pro 16gb, 512 SSD, 10 core CPU at 1.74l , after all discounts. 2. Another laptop that I am comparing with above, is Dell Inspiron 5630 - i7/13gen, 16gb, 512 SSD, 16 inch screen. Dell has a fHD display which is inferior to Macs retina display ( seems retina= 4000K resolution of other laptops ). Was able to spot difference in pic quality with eyes but will say Dell's pic quality is also not too bad. Seems they have copied the design of mac wrt to keyboard, touchpad - orientation, alignment etc. All this at 90k. Seems a good deal just that I am skeptical that it does not heat up or hang during dev work, an area where I have seen mac doing well. Tried to get online comments for the Dell one, they are limited. Wrote my findings in case it helps anyone. If anyone has heard about this Dell series performance please let me know.

Hey bro @LazyTile27, I have been myself looking for a laptop and came across the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED 2023 with AMD Ryzen 7 7780 16GB and 1 TB SSD. Looks pretty solid, would recommend you to take a look if not already bought. Intel i7 13th gen is also present in the same model

Dell XPS is good. Else HP elitebook, i7 , 8th gen with 32 GB Ram is awesome. Can run dockers , kubernetes, local servers, pycharm without any glitch. Also it's cheap though

Good Laptop suggestion

Hello folks 👋 I want to buy a laptop for personal usage. I will be using it mostly for media consumption and web dev. I have had a very bad experience with windows laptops in terms of hardware and battery life after a year of usage. Should I buy a MacBook Air with 16gb ram / Macbook Pro or should I trust a non apple laptop and slap a Linux distro on it call it a day ? Please share your experience or the machine you guys are using. Ps- I am using a 16 inch Mac with M1 pro and 16gb ram but I feel I am not using it to its full potential hence it might be a waste of money for a personal laptop Thank you 🙏

A Junior SWE here I want to buy a personal work laptop and can afford a laptop upto 1.5L Given that I would be working on personal projects on this laptip, should I go ahead only with MacBook?
